jimmyb79
I stand to be corrected but I'm sure it's an offence to sell a starter pistol which isn't brightly coloured...

jimmyb79
Violent Crime Reduction Act That's what I was thinking. If it's painted or wrapped in bright orange tape it'll be ok to sell though.

bicykillgaz
I stand to be corrected but I'm sure it's an offence to sell a starter pistol which isn't brightly coloured...Might be wrong but doesn't that only apply to new purchases from shops etc.
jimmyb79
The violent crime reduction act doesn't appear to differentiate. It just says that 'a person is guilty of an offence if he sells an imitation firearm- which is defined as (a)has an appearance that is so realistic as to make it indistinguishable, for all practical purposes, from a real firearm and defines distinguishable as: (b)the imitation is to be regarded as distinguishable if its size, shape or principal colour is unrealistic for a real firearm. I'm not a legal expert but I think selling one that looks like that could potentially land someone in hot water...if they were to get caught... Probably worth a call to BASC to check. PS - sorry to hijack your sales post, wasn't my intention!
brett1985
if the blank firer is under a certain size, it does not constitute as a RIF. looking at the picture, it would seem as though thie one this chap has for sale is a small one and therefore does not fall foul of the VCRA 2006. That is from memory, and would need to be checked....

foxbasher
What would be the min size for a blank pistol then to make it exempt from the vcr act?
brett1985
Just checked and to make it exempt it would have to be smaller than 38mm x 70mm. Smaller than i thought TBH...
foxbasher
Hhmmm guess that excludes all blank firers then. Cheers mate
