Flashman
The trouble with using game pockets - my old Border's isn't removable - is the smell after a while.
Dirty Harry
Northumbria is long and made of thicker material, has big front pockets on the front for cartridges and 2 internal poachers pockets with removable liners. Just the job but I use a game bag.

spanj
Which Barbour wax jacket are best for shooting, pockets wise .. l'd like a poachers pocket ideally ..."not interested in any other makes" beaufort is the one with the proper game pocket
saddler
beaufort is the one with the proper game pocket Aye...the Beaufort is the medium weight version. If you want the same style and pocket layout look for a Moorland, these use the same heavy fabric as the Northumbria. Very durable.
hoggysreels
Northumbria and Beaufort both seem good, will have to try both on to make my mind up ...
Dirty Harry
I've got both but the Northumbria is the better choice for a days shooting in my opinion. Both nice jackets.
GOLDCREST
Go try 'em on..I found the Moorland a bit long for me so settled for a Border, Thought behind it being.. it was longer than the Beaufort for when it was wet....Now I wish I'd gone for the Beaufort....as its a similar length to my Bushman, which I usually use for shooting anyway....Just be nice to have the waxy for when it really rains.... The Border does have removable nylon type game pockets, fastened in with presstuds
saddler
Beaufort and Moorland are the same cut...so identical length, etc. They only differ in the material weight used...
masmiffy
Still got my old Solway after 30 years still good but looking a bit sad now. Did send it back to Barbour for a complete overhaul and re-wax once and it came back better than new!!
