NickB65
I have always used bi-pods with my air rifles and it was only when I moved from PCP to Springer that I even thought about shooting sticks. I mean that HW97 was one heavy beasty and although bi-pods were a no no the shooting stick seemed to work well. Last Christmas my future brother in-law got me these Seeland 2 Legged Shooting Stick which are amazing. A little OTT for the air rifle but now I have a .22LR they are perfect. I carry them set at the height for when I am kneeling down and after a little practise they are great. When I mooch around to the woods I extend then to standing height and leant against a tree I have a stable rest and blend in with the tree. They do take a little practise but I was surprised at how stable. What about prone I hear you say... well when I am prone I use my hand - normally fine for most shots. Long shots are tricky but anything out to 120m is ok. If you have not tried them before then give them ago.

NickB65
When I started to use the two legged version of the shooting sticks I found they moved a lot but now I have the legs with one slightly in front of the other which provides slightly more stability. I also find that holding the sticks rigged makes them move more while a light touch seems to be more stable. Like I said it takes a little practise but well worth it :-)
Paul223
Short piece of thin rope tied at the pivot, drop the rope to the floor, stand on the rope and gently push forward on the sticks
welshwarrior
Short piece of thin rope tied at the pivot, drop the rope to the floor, stand on the rope and gently push forward on the sticks I do the same works a treat I find it helps if the rope has a little stretch in it. maddog546
Got to admit I have a set of the Primos trigger sticks which I use on windy nights, and getting on grand with em,I usually freehand and find sticks slow me down too much though.
