mickyh
The wife has just bought a Fiat Panda on a 2010 plate. Really nice little city car, ideal for her work, and its a trendy, Purple colour! However the Logbook has just arrived and has the colour down as Red ? The MOT certificate also says Red. Cant imagine the MOT center not mentioning anything if they thought the colour was wrong against the system? I've done a bit of searching and this seems quite common? Why doesn't the DVLA have Purple on their system??? I can appreciate 'Aquamarine' may be open to discussion, but Purple is Purple! Has anyone else had similar DVLA problems? philm
Mine was registered silver when bought new, it's actually champagne. closer to gold!
Hamster
DVLA use generic terms, the manufacturer may call it Parisian Moonlight or Persian Twilight but they'll call it grey.
goodo123
Do a car check, this will check color changes and tell you if it's been in a smash
mickyh
Do a car check, this will check color changes and tell you if it's been in a smash Done the DVLA car check and it comes up Red. I just thought maybe they had made a mistake. Parisian Moonlight may be mistaken for another colour, but everyone knows what purple looks like ! Anyway thanks for your help, We'll just leave it as it is, if she gets pulled over it'll get sorted then!
88b
The MOT tester can actually change the colour via the MOT data base ( run by ATOS ). When I got my Buell which is predominately white the log book said blue. I just changed it on the changes part of the V5 and got anew log book in days. mickyh
Thanks to all who replied ! I've emailed DVLA with all of the information on the Log Book, and we'll just see what they come back with. Three days turnaround they say. 88b
I might be wrong but I think this will flag up on an HPI footprint Possibly but mine was that colour from the day it was registered, originally it probably was blue but it had a custom paint job and was on a display stand in the show room before I bought it. The problem was caused by the idiot sales liar who didn't do his job properly. He now works at Lakeside HD a shop to be avoided IMO . norfolk dumpling
A few years back when insurers were loading up customer/vehicle data so police could do on the road checks my company was threatened with heavy fines as there was a high error rate compared to DVLA d/base. We took a sample of their data; post code, name and vehicle details and compared to that which the customer provided. Guess what the taffs had keyed in 20% incorrectly!! Some of it was low level errors - upper/lower case etc but a lot of it was rubbish inputting so don't worry if car colour wrong - police won't notice?? four-wheel-drive
My Vitara was blue and silver but DVLA just had it down as blue the problem is once you go off maine colours things can get a bit odd my friend orderd a coat a while ago the colour it said was coral now we thought that ment greeny/gray but it turned out to be oringe I think that is why DVLA tend to just stick to standard colours even if they are not quite the same as the real colour of the car. My Jeep is matalic blue but in diferent lights it can seem to be move years ago I had an oringe car and at night under the street lights you would have sworn that it was yellow. mickyh
DVLA just got back now (Pretty good going for a Saturday morning). They said to send the V5 back to them with a covering note and their reference No. And if necessary it will be changed. So a result I suppose ! hodge911
VW used to do the polo with all different coloured panels from the factory and called them HARLEQUINE . I remember the fist time I tested one [when tickets were hand written] when it come to the vehicle colour section my thoughts were what the hell do I put down here went for "MULTI COLOURED" in the end but back to O/P nothing to worry about dvla just use basic colour description
Trevorevans
I bought an Audi that was advertised as 'salsa pearl'?. On the log book it said red and on previous MOTs it was either red or brown, neither of which to me described the colour of the car.
