mossy835
again its not the chokes its the man behind the gun.
stevethevanman
tighter chokes are supposeed to damage pellets, meaning that 10% of the pellets leaving the gun dont even make it 30yds before falling to the ground, so in theory you should be better of with 1/4 or 1/2 choke, also they recon that the tightest pattern throwing loads are 4g and 28g loads, contarary to belief that realy heavy 32g and 36g loads thro really, really dense patterns. 08shooter
possibly a trap gun it might be a bit high in the stock for field shooting quarter and a half would cover mostly anything
cloudwalker
I would agree with everyone else, 3/4 and full is a bit tight for pigeon. !/4 and 1/2 or 1/4 and 3/4 would be better.
stevethevanman
Fot all my clay shooting I usually use 28g of 7.5's or 8's through 1/4 choke.
invector
I use 1/4 and 3/4 and sometimes feel the 3/4 is a bit too tight!!
Catamong
Invector, Yes, 3/4 is a tad too tight, over decoys I use 1/4 1/4 ported Rhino's with 30 gram Clear Pigeon's and that drops 'em pretty well. Cat.
hesky
3/4 at close range will mash the birds, but will be ok for a bit further out, seems like a 1/4 and 1/2 are the main ones used by the rest of the lads on here mate. That's what I use 1/4 in my semi.
njc110381
I use 1/4 and 1/2. I'm no expert as I'm new to it aswell, but that seems to be the most common advice

pin
More a matter of what game and how it was presented that the gun would be choked for. Before multi-choke guns you'd need a couple choked differently, sometimes from one drive to the next depending on the type of bird you were expecting to see (and how they would present to the guns) Best thing to do is get fixed 1/4 and 1/2 or a multichoke, stick 1/4 and 1/2 in it and forget about the rest of them for 6 months

ChrisNicholls
tighter chokes are supposeed to damage pellets, meaning that 10% of the pellets leaving the gun dont even make it 30yds before falling to the ground, Not heard that one before, is there any proof of it actually happening? invector
catamong, I'm still sticking with my 1/4 and 3/4. It's served me well for more years than I care to mention, and the odd smashed bird is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

the hitman
I have used 1/4 + 3/4 for a long time and its fine for me , its just what you feel confident with i suppose. I will be putting clear pigeon 30g no6 , which i bought at bywell today (1000 @ £134) through them tomorrow , with a bit of luck.
