MBW
Steiner rangers in 8x56 is what I use. They're the mutts nutts for low light conditions, wee bit over the £300 price mark but well worth the wee bit extra if you can stretch to it
Berettacocker
Bushnell do different price ranges I'm sure you'll get a good pair for that money. Also for low light conditions you'll need an objective lens of say x50-x56 for better light gathering qualities . Good luck Darren

Scarpa
I got a pair of 8x42 Vanguard Platinum binoculars half price a while ago, they are down to £119 here http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/c/574/Vanguard-Binoculars.html I've been very pleased at the quality for the price, they are tough and waterproof and at dusk they really extend the time that I can see. welshwarrior
Take a look at Hawke Nature Trek. Excellent value for money. I have a pair of these as a back up live in the car and think they are excellent for the money when my Zeiss got lost in some baggage I didn't replace them. The Hawkes do me alright.
