affinity121
Is it actually enforced
wraivi
Just wear them mate, only takes one small projectile..... No more vision = no more shooting.
shaun4860
I dont think Whitfield actually enforce it But as my mam used to say "look after your eyes you only get 1 set" Doesnt take much to lose an eye in an event like whitfield Flushes with bits of clays going everywhere
HDAV
Required at all registered shoots no protection = disqualified.... Risk is minimal for trap disciplines but still mandatory!!!!
Will Poon
Just get use to wearing a pair it makes sense at the end of the day
Westley
I have personal experience of someone who lost his right eye at a well known shooting ground. He is now having to shoot left handed. If you think it can not happen to you, then think again.

Beretta06
Just wear them mate, only takes one small projectile..... No more vision = no more shooting. Wrong!! Read the bottom article and watch the video http://www.disabledshooting.org.uk/getting-started/introduction-to-shooting-disciplines/clay-target.html BUT, makes you rather silly to take an unnecessary risk
fruity
Ive never known any ground enforce wearing safety glasses or ear protection But if you go deaf or get hit in the face/eye by bits of clay etc its your own tough s###, the signs are usually pretty clear telling you to wear them Edited May 11, 2014 by fruity
robbiep
My club enforces ear protection, it does not enforce eye protection, however you must sign a waiver if you do not want to use.

Rst1990
Clay club I go to doesn't enforce any kind of hearing or eye safety. Just turn up and shoot. They do have a sign saying beware of falling clays though lol
Scarpa
Good quality sunglasses with plastic lenses should give adequate protection if you wanted to avoid paying for a specialist pair. But ARCO or similar do certified safety sunglasses in wrap round styles from about a fiver. I used to get them in for my work crews and they were very popular. affinity121
What pair / lense colour would you guys recommend
ehb102
People have almost as much fun talking about lenses as they do cartridges. If I had perfect vision I'd get two pairs, one clear lenses and one polarised. I've never found the yellow filter a particular help for clays, although I do have a purple one for orange clays that works very well for me. It should do, the tint was customised for my eyes. Filters are very personal. You might get massive help from a yellow filter. Try someone else's. If I could wear prescription contact lenses I'd buy off the shelf Pilla glasses. That's if money was no object. The only problem with budget non-prescription safety glasses is they tend to scratch much more easily. My husband is "making do" with a set of Napiers that come with yellow, purple, polarised and clear. £100 a set, half price in the sale, a present at Christmas He's doing fine with them although they didn't make his shooting any better than the £10 ones from Amazon. If you look around after the Jack Pyke is shot in July I think the entrants get specs this year so usually there's a fair few unwanted sets hitting the second hand market. As I have excellent corrected vision and can't wear contact lenses and was utterly lost I took myself off to Wolverhampton to get a sports vision consultant with Ed Lyons of Flint & Partners. Not only did I get the best and most thorough vision assessment I'd ever had (had to take the gun!) Ed gave me several solutions that made my life easier. Most importantly I wasn't left floundering in a sea of options and I got to try on the glasses I could chose from. I ended up with Randolph sporters with clip on filters. I can update the lenses and keep the filters. There's a lot of recommendations on their from top clay shooters on that website but Ed also does a line in specialist game shooting work. Cost of consultation isn't cheap, but it's 2 hours or more and I consider it saved me from making a very expensive mistake. But yeah, if you've got normal vision anything will work. Just make sure the lenses are big enough that you aren't seeing around the edges. I can't shoot in my daytime glasses as they are tiny and my peripheral vision is interrupted. My shooting glasses are huge. I'm just glad I don't have to look at me when I'm wearing them! Edited May 12, 2014 by ehb102
seeker
anyone use the wiley x saber advanced , do you rate them ?. Comfortable, clear and take a prescription lens holder . Thicker lens than some and I like the orangeish colour for most uses. Very similar to the standard Wiley X
