Morning all.

Well as per title I got up yesterday morning for a day’s crow shooting, however I knew the weather was going to be rank!! So I decided to leave the berretta A400 at home and take the Hatsan Escort . ( Boo.. Hissss ! ) and give it hell.
I bought the gun last year as nothing more than a cheap back up , it’s had a few shots put threw it but that’s it , it just sits in the back of the cabinet . So today I thought I would treat the old girl.
I got to the field about 8 am and set up with just 9 “greenhead” crow decoys , under an oak tree with the wind ( Gale ) blowing from my right to left , decoys out about 30 yrds ,in front , thought this would be spot on and give me lots of nice crossers ( my favourite set up ) .
As for cartridges , I was trying some NSI 28 grm 6s ( English 5.5 ) . started off using a ¾ choke but didn’t really do the job ,have to admit im a bit of a sucker for a tight choke , so I dropped a full choke in and BINGO , I have to say with the set up I was using I thought they were spot on , and for £175 per / thou there great .
Finished the day off with
4 feral
1 woody
4 jackdaws
39 rooks
47carion
Total bag 95

Heres some footage of the day

And heres a pic of the bag https://www.dropbox.com/sc/eqolled21esf3rm/AADEWk0_O3jOcI-6w8EIt1gJa

Enjoy

Well lve never owned a Hatsan Escort .. and going by some of the posts lve read on PW, Im thinking are they just having a pop because of gun snobbery? .... that said, with your shooting ability as display in the video, any shotgun would have looked the business !

Thank you for the kind words .

to be honest the Hatsan ...... is what it is IMO . its a tool , a work horse , it does what I ask of it that that's all I need , like I said I bought it as a pure back up gun for use in the field , and to be honest its fits the bill nicely .

.

Well done. Excellent shooting and a great video again. Nothing wrong with the Escort Magnum. Mine has taken care of many 100's of Corvids, without any problems with it. I've sent you a pm with a link to a Youtube video of me shooting my FAC 8 shot version.

With some of those big carrions you could use a 25 shot drum magazine haha . I will have a look later steve . Im on my phone at min and it dont do videos very well . I used to have an 8 shot Urika but it was just too heavy . But thats another story .

You never said what was drilled in the field.

You are such a natural shot I suspect that you have never had a lesson in your life.

sorry , its over Drilled maize , there's nothing on top at all though ( Blast those modern drills ! ) , the crows where just coming in for a look really , but that's all you need .

I wouldn't go that far !! ;-) I like to think of my self more as just beinging able to" hold my own with a shotgun " . no I've never had a lesson in my life , however I have put the time in , I got my first shotgun when I was 7 yrs old ( a little bolt action 4.10 )
