Scully
Mine is old, draughty, noisy, smells of oil and 'dead things' (so my OH claims) and rains in occasionally. It has a 200tdi and will do 0-60.....eventually, and I can't hear the radio when its running at full revs,( my daughter said first time she was in it ' it's a bit loud Dad innit?' I said 'eh?', but it also starts first time every time, is very reliable, will go anywhere and everywhere I've asked it to. It is the motorised equivalent to a waxed Barbour jacket and I love it. Mungler
Well, I am a chav. 99% of my driving is on the road, so this suits. Get the dog in the back, 40+ mpg if driven like Miss Daisy and if not a 0-60 of 5 seconds but don't tell anyone in any of the speeding threads. All this wistful mooning over old technology - I just don't get it. I never enjoyed breaking down, and Land Rover appear to have built a cult around it (and no power steering, drum brakes etc). Even if you wanted a solid agricultural 4x4 the smart money's on a Landcruiser - technology, comfort and reliability. steveyg
no one is ever envious of mine, but it is only an old series 3. i am...one day I will have one leaking all over the drive,,can't wait
Scully
wow youve got a radio................does you daughter still complain about it ? Not too much now as since getting her provisional license she gets to drive it. Something her mother won't do.
Guest rimotu66
It sure is a thing of beauty but will be way out of my price range by a few 0's I have been a LR man since I was 18 when I bought a 1962 SWB registration WF1066 (might of been 1066WF) and I have just agreed to buy a 1968 LWB, cant wait to pick it up and start playing with my whitworth spanners again Edited May 24, 2014 by rimotu66

I've got the speakers but no radio or aerial. The previous owner had problems with the radio and one day it ended up flying out the window down his yard
Paul223
It is the motorised equivalent to a waxed Barbour jacket and I love it. Timeless classless classic, when one pulls up the driver could be anyone .... from any walk of life, gentry, landowner, farmer, bus driver, mechanic, tree surgeon ..... quite literally universal! Beretta06
So, just so us in Kazakhstan understand - this is a commemorative model, but is physically available to buy today, da? Sorry, 'yes, not 'da'!!
four-wheel-drive
I always fancid having one of them but as I can only afford to run one car/truck they are a bit basic for everyday use I like my 4x4 to have a bit of comfort as well as go over rough ground a nice condition mk 1 RR would be nice though. glb8686
It's an itch I will have to scratch at some point. I had a disco 300 Tdi which Was good. But no defender.
mick miller
I love mine to bits, nothing like it but then I'm a self confessed Land Rover (Series & Defender) nerd. I wouldn't swap a carrot for any of the Mercs, Beemers, Audi's et al and sports cars just scream saddo and hairdresser to me and leave me cold. About the only thing that compares in my mind or gets me a little hot under the collar is heavy plant.....oooh, look at the hydraulics! I quite like the G-Wagon though, the only Merc exception allowed Edited May 27, 2014 by mick miller
