Right guys I own a joinery workshop and although are main trade is making windows ,doors, stairs , make and supply kitchens etc we are always after ideas to make .

We've made windows etc for 40 years and would like some ideas of things people might like to see?

Gimicky things

I've thought about wooden toys , gun cabinets , mirrors but what is the thing that people would buy or like to see more of?

Feel free to delete mods if needs be.

Just looked at the gun cabinets and their seriously impressive .i guess I'd be the same price on them as at £2k for a 12 to 24 cabinet fully lined and I'd guess heated plus the walnut/oak . The carvings are purchased and glued on plus the lacquer finish isn't cheap . I can see where the prices come from and I think the prices inc vat

What about wooden items for the garden TT. There seems to be a much bigger and active market in garden leisure and that's maybe an option.

Could be functional items like benches, tables, loungers or the quirkier things like posh bird houses, insect boxes, pot stands and hangers, etc.

Specialist items like Gun Cabinets and the like are only going to appeal to a limited market though if you intend to sell them.

I would consider something like ornamental planters, water feature kits, garden seats etc which I notice are horrendously expensive in the garden centres.

I tried to by a teak Versailles planter Sunday but would have had to take out a second mortgage to do so...

I'm sure you could knock these up in thermowood or some other resilient timber and sell them at a realistic cost and still make a reasonable return.

Unless of course you just want to make things to fill some time...in which case can you make me a full sized model of Beyoncé.? in pear wood.?

oops sorry gr...we must have been typing simultaneously...great minds eh?

Problem with GC.s is the security issue...steel framing/linings locking systems etc and then getting them approved.

the helmet looks great, i think i would look at certain fashions, like vintage tractors, knock up some good replica massy Ferguson 35s

or if you want a nice big project, a nice 6mt x 4mt livestock shed…i would even offer to display it for you and even add a few goats totally free of charge :whistling:

or a nice 5ft waterwheel…that will fit on a nice duck house

Chess sets, in different woods for indoors and outside !!

outside ones need to be a lot bigger. We very often stop and have a game and a pint if the pub has one.

Jenga, but with your own slant on it, in fact any outdoor game you can think of.

shotgun stock work ect :good:

I've tried pistol grips for target rifles but it's so time consuming I gave up . 20 hours and I charged my mate £20

I just made two LED planters for outside the house. Managed to get the timber for free mind so son't have a true idea of costings for mine but we had a load made for a large pub chain last year that went well. Stainless edges, timber panels on castors so they could fetch them in at night. Box hedge shaped in the top and fabric balustrade panels to make a sectioned off seating area. I'll see if I have the pics somewhere to give you a better idea.
