Mrcbr
No the lead and plastic off the carts will ruin the threads

shaun4860
A most definate NO Just buy some cylinder chokes, although depending how close as most chokes will do for REALLY close stuff as the pattern won't have opened up much anyway
deershooter
I have been doing this for years with no ill effect as does many of the top boys the plastic wad doesn't even touch the threads the choke screws back in with ease there is no plastic fowling at all Popcorn ready Munch chomp Deershooter
Gordon R
You might have been lucky, you might not, but why take the chance for the price of a couple of chokes?

Will Poon
How close of a bird are we talking about?
Westward
It's called shooting the threads and it's legal. Plastic and lead won't do any damage to the threads but it will make a mess and take a lot of cleaning for absolutely no advantage over a cylinder choke. Normally people only do it if they don't have an open choke to hand.
TIGHTCHOKE
How close of a bird are we talking about? Think back to the dropping rat at Sporting Targets!

ehb102
I think a dropping rat like that should be referred to as a lemming.

superspark
If you need to shot with the chokes out then perhaps you should give up shooting moving targets lol

Whitebridges
I think it's madness not putting a choke in a multi-choke gun. Rhyme nor reason why not.
