ben0850
Like everything depends on your budget. I have 2/3 season and 4 season boots for both summer and winter mountaineering, I would suggest about £150 should get you a good pair or Meindl, Asolo, Scarpa etc. It's all down to the "fit" get into a shop with plenty of choice and try lots on making sure you wear proper walking socks so that the fit represents what you would wear on the day! Markbrowning
Like the man said, whatever fits you best out of top brands. I'm a Lowa man myself (they come up quite small), I think all of best offer a Resoling service.... Well I know Lowa & Altberg do.
Trevorevans
Take a look on http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk Lowa, altberg and meindl on there at the moment.
DaveK
I have Lowa Meindl and Altberg for work and although I wear the first two for a change now and again always come back to the Altbergs. They're comfortable, not heavy and BRITISH.
steve_b_wales
I have a pair of Hi Tec Magnum full leather boots. They are excellent. I wore a pair while trekking to base camp of Mt Everest, and they never let me down. Warm/cool when needed and very comfortable.

Les*1066
Take a look on http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk Lowa, altberg and meindl on there at the moment. Some great buys there - but not if you're a size 7.
figgy
I wear Altberg Mallerstang and my wife wears Altberg Fremington boots. Had them five or six years or so now and wouldn't use any others. The sizing in half sizes and width fittings are great and if you have any foot abnormalities they can get round this too. Helps I only live less than an hour away from the factory. They do some boots for beating and a sturdier pair of game keeper boots. Figgy
