Now Then ,

Well I thought it was time to posted some footage of my exploits over the past two weeks, however like a lot of people seem to be reporting of late I have struggled to find birds in any numbers , so far the Stubbles have been a right let down and so to be fair have not done as much shooting . Well not as much as I would expect to do, especially for this time of year , still I have managed a few trips ….. 3 ;-( most of which have gone pear shaped , either no birds , of heavy rain … blah blah like Friday evening for instance , I set up on a fairly lively field , I had about 2 hours but spent over an hour tucked up under and Elder because of torrential rain , so that was the end of that . another trip out , lasted about 3 hrs , started off really well for the first hr ……. Then nothing , very strange , still am sure I’m not alone we’ve all had days/weekends like that , its just part of what we do .

Anyway hope you enjoy

Regards stevo

Good vid and good shooting. Think they're cutting the triticale on our rough shoot this weekend; chomping at the bit! Not a good forecast however. We'll see.

That used to be a big favourite down south where I used to shoot . Im not sure what type of wheat is favoured on our shoot . Have to ask as you got me thinking .

In the earlier clips I thought you had a silver ashtray next to your lighter on the hide tray, until you picked up your clicker!I was glad because I find one smokes many more cigarettes when one's carrying ones silver ashtray into the hide.I watched this video secretly

at work & it took me far away for a few minutes-thanks.

I am trying to get permission to shoot on a rape stubble (seeming the last one left in that area) where there is a very nice amount of pigeons at the moment. If I get the go ahead I will do a video at the weekend (new gopro, too) with the .410, as long as the weather is kind.

You made some nice second barrel recoveries, there.

I enjoy using my Beretta o/u, but I do miss the third shot at times.

yeah that will be great motty , I will look forward to that ,

as for second barrels ... yeah Im trying to get used to a different choke combination , I normally use , or should I say like to use .. 3/4 and full , however I have half in the bottom ( first barrel ) and full in the top ( second ) , NOT that the half choke is a problem .... far from it , however sometimes I forget on the rangey shots , its nothing more than a case of getting used to it shooting very slightly different from what im used to I spose , I do like the half and full though , half is great for the birds that decoy and the full is idea for the ones that wont play ball or slip the net , as you have seen .

and don't get me started on the selective trigger haha I just cant get my head around it , god knows why . still its all good fun .

do you rekon the .410 wil do the job on the pigeons ?

Well, I've just been denied permission to shoot that rape field. ******! I reckon that could have been a 100 bird day. Never mind, i'm just being greedy. I can shoot the wheat next door to it when it is cut, though...

The .410 is fine for shots up to around 30 yards. The best load i've used so far is the 19gm 7.5. These give a good balance of pattern and energy at those sort of ranges. As I use it more i'll be able to give a better review of how good it is. So far I've only put around 70 shells through it.

Joking ...what a barstool .

I have to admit I am very interested in the idea of the hushpower . And I can see many benefits of owning and opportunities to use one . My only concern is with the decoying side of things . And weather I can show enough restraint as Im a sucker for my long range crossers .

Some nice shooting as always stevo, but can i ask why you wear a glove on your left hand? is it for extra camo or is it a leather thing

Joking aside i just wondered, i wear one the same when it's freezing cold but never in the summer.

yeah no worries ,

a few yrs ago I broke my hand really bad at work , i'm a bricklayer and while I was setting out the footing for a bay window , the side of the footing collapsed , and the Top concrete block ( about 40 lbs ) that was on the stack on the side fell onto my hand from about 3 foot , as you can imagine it smashed it to bits , as a result I have about 70% use of my hand , so the glove helps me grip the forend ,

in the winter its down to about 50=60% use with the cold weather
