spandit
Proper cartridges is venturing down South and I'm going to meet up with him to get some powder (D073.4 for my .223 and future .308) tomorrow. spandit
Well, I met George today, thoroughly pleasant fellow. Bought a load of powder from him (in milk bottles!) so can have fun reloading. Bought D073.4 and S060
phaedra1106
I tried out some S062 a couple of weeks ago, only a small test of 30 rounds at 3 different charge weights but they performed as well as my N140 rounds and at just over half the price of the Viht it's all good Soon as George gets more I'm hoping to stock up on it.. phaedra1106
From what he said hopefully early next year depending how it goes. Having said that I talked to a friend/RFD tonight who reckons he gets it from the UK importer for less than £30 a kilo but they don't like it being sold at that price, more like £33-£38 for 500g
spandit
I don't think he's bothered about undercutting people. He made a decent profit on the stuff he sold me but it was still cheap.
hawkeye
Could have sworn that George said in one of his many threads that he was going to be at Lowther Show this weekend.. Never saw him now i know why.. must have been mistaken..

Indeed, George is a really nice chap, perfectly happy with what he makes selling it at £30/Kg and not out to fleece people like more than a few others I've came across in the shooting world. soulboy1957
Good to meet you George,we managed an hour or so Saturday tea time on flighting pigeons, and both cartridges did well,32g 5.5 are quick and kill well,36g 4's dropped some real high ones. Ended up with 18 for 30 or so cartridges, took about half a dozen shells to get the lead right. Let me know when you're down again. Mark. propercartridges
Well, I met George today, thoroughly pleasant fellow. Bought a load of powder from him (in milk bottles!) so can have fun reloading. Bought D073.4 and S060 hi all it has been brought to my attention about milk bottles yes the cartons I do use are similar to milk bottles but I have checked with vca at leatherhead dangerous goods dept and all what I do is perfectly legal and the way the powder is handed over the government allows the use of used packaging as long it is self and same in my case 1.3 packing may be used time and time again just to keep you all informed as I know there are some of you interested in what I do but please don't forget powder £30 per kilo inc vat no mistakes that's the price thanks all george
spandit
Just for the record, I wasn't trying to assert that the milk bottles were unsafe. They're not ideal for use on the reloading bench as they have narrow necks & are quite tall (plus I'd prefer something black to avoid UV degradation) but as a means of selling bulk powder, I can't see anything wrong with them.
