Was it all white ? Emus are grey Storks have distinctive black wings Little egrets black legs and bills with distinctive yellow feet. Any zoos or wildlife parks near you ? JDog
I don't think it is an egret. It looks more like an albino bustard but that is unlikely.

chrisjpainter
I'm not sure about it being a cattle egret! this seems bigger. Yeah they do fly. This looks heavier in the leg than all heron species. Prominent knees too, indicative of a runner, not a flyer. an escaped, small albino rhea is a good shout
JDog
Albino rhea ? That must be it. How did it get there if they cannot fly.
poontang
do egret fly ? Fisherman Mike
send the report and phots to the appropriate bird recorder for the area..he may already have had sightings http://www.bto.org/volunteer-surveys/birdtrack/bird-recording/county-bird-recorders
loriusgarrulus
That must be it. How did it get there if they cannot fly. They can do around 40 mph when they get going. Must have escaped from somewhere if that's what it is. Think of the drumsticks, you would need a big oven.

loriusgarrulus
Rheas can make 6ft and can be quite dangerous if it is a Rhea. Must have been some big dogs to kill 2. How long do yo cook them for?Figgy 35 minutes a pound and 35 minutes over at 180. Place an bulk order at Paxo for the stuffing.

Fisherman Mike
There was a chap from Coventry area selling domestic white rheas on a Poultry Forum about 2 years ago.. Possibly your answer..they are flightless so its obviously walked in from somewhere reasonably locally. The domestic birds are quite docile so its feasible a reasonably sized dog could kill one. Kes
Its obviously a job for the barbecue - too big for the standard sized oven. Theres a few up here as well, on a local chicken farm. I think he bought them to kill the foxes !
