well just looked egret up, and it say small legs , this was big b....r i think if i could have got really close i would say its head would be near my chest height and i am nearly 6ft , do egret fly ? cuz this did not bother to scarper

Was it all white ?

 

Emus are grey

 

Storks have distinctive black wings

 

Little egrets black legs and bills with distinctive yellow feet.

 

Any zoos or wildlife parks near you ?

re emu thats what i thought, its was all white, no zoos that i know of but i will ring mate its his permission he may know

right some more info 4 you mate rang farmer to let him know, apparently farmer said yeh there were 3 two were killed by dogs one left.

this one came within 20yrds of mate in his decoy pattern , shot gun did not flinch this bird it just strolled by, it did not have yellow beak

obviously mate did not shoot at it

There was a chap from Coventry area selling domestic white rheas on a Poultry Forum about 2 years ago..

 

Possibly your answer..they are flightless so its obviously walked in from somewhere reasonably locally.

 

The domestic birds are quite docile so its feasible a reasonably sized dog could kill one.
