ditchman
I have shot 7 out of the last 8 days...on this flightline...and have produced some of my best shooting ever...loads of left and rights and high crossing birds...i have been really chuffed with the new borings in the gun............ BUT....................... today i shot like a total and utter muppet...i have not shot as bad as that for at least 10-15 years...i shot a few birds ...err 12 i think....i should have had at least 60...........i have recently been shooting wearing my driving glasses on this flightlining malarky (something i dont usually wear)....any way i finally took them off and pulled out proberly the highest left and right of my shooting career and then a a crossing bird well out in the field.... so i deceided to finish there and then..................but the rest of the day ........well i should have shot myself , out of embarrasement..............but yet again...i would proberly have missed....... dose any one else have a bad day....? aga man
The question should be does anyone not have a bad day? We all do don't we? Even motty and JDog on rare occasions. Forget about it and get back out there at weekend.
Salop Matt
Sounds like its worth giving the glasses a miss from now on once out and settled. We all have bad days 99% of mine are or at least it feels that way. if in doubt get out on the clays for a brush up ! ATB Matt
TIGHTCHOKE
I strongly suspect you have over done it and are "shot out". Step back and have a good rest!
ditchman
Flightlining is definatly different from decoying...........it is so easy to start tracking the birds and taking calculated shots...rather than watching and taking an instinct shot which is how i decoy, as i have very little time to react.................. anyway haddock an chips tonite...and im going to forget about the whole damn episode......day off tomorrow as i have to chainsaw some wood up for a couple of the gay boys in the village....just have to keep my bum pointing towards their shed ...not the house incase they sneak up on me .........happy days

stuy
Yep, it does happen and can be frustrating! And embarrassing, but sometimes the harder you try the worse you get I.e stopping the swing etc... . Try and relax and take each bird slowly,( which is nye impossible when flighting!) There are very few people who can shoot a full day, and not have a silly 10 mins!

WelshMike
I had a muppet day as well on Saturday on the crows. Ended the day with 39 for around 100 shots...not good at all.
NickB65
I find when I have had a really gun run of good days when I shoot well I will suddenly shoot like a muppet and will continue to do so until I stop and engage the brain or not as the case may be. It seems I forget the basics and get lazy... then I over think until I stop.... and remember my simple rules..... EYES OPEN - keep both eyes open MOUNT - make sure the mount is true and correct AIM - look at the target so the gun blocks it out - I have a tendency to put the target on top of the barrel so I can see it FOLLOW - swing with he bird SQUEEZE - As we swing we squeeze the trigger..... :-)

Cambsman
Sounds familiar. Was out two weeks ago. Couldn't hit a cows backside with a banjo. Last weekend. Dropped a couple of really high beauties. Hey ho.

Anyone who has done a bit knows exactly where you are coming from, I certainly do. Harder you try the worse you get. I try to find a high tower for a 100 birds if things get really bad. Usually the issue is THE SPEED OF THE SWING. A Edited November 5, 2014 by Alycidon
ditchman
im going to have another go soon..........i think one of the reasons is that i might have been pushing the limits of the gun and chokings...so im taking the old a303 out with "extra choke " in it............. ......this flightlining is not as easy as it looks ....!!
