Dougy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbFdyR3xXaE This was the First Boar from a trip out to Croatia on a driven Boar week end. I missed the 2nd over the top slightly because of the ditch, i fired the second shot just as it fell into the ditch and away. All together i shot 1 Fox and 2 Boar, I let one go cus i thought it was a dog coming back through the brush

Dougy
Thought I could hear the action racking, must of been the bolt ☺️ With use I've got the knack of getting another round in pretty quick. I recon about 1.5 seconds ish ;-) Do I need a straight pull It's on my mind quite allot, can't decide.
rimmie
There's a few vids on YouTube of people using lever actions on boar, quick follow up shots, and you can get some serious chamberings for em. The 45-70 drops them like an axe !!! Might be worth thinking about, over a straight pull ? Saying that you can get some quick straight pull rifles, with bonus of a detachable mag !! Dougy
I've had a few in mind, 1st was the Maral then the Mauser m96 , or a Merkel they just keep popping up lol --- just a shame my lottery numbers don't pop up.
Lampwick
Isn't it rather scary in there with those other shots going off?
docholiday
Always wanted to go but that looks just plane dangerous (not in any way meant as a criticism ) glad you had a good outcome
Dougy
It certainly makes you jump, you can be standing waiting listening for ages totally transfixed, then boom !!! You jump then start looking for Boar that may or may not be right in front of you. Doc, I really see you point, I did hesitate before I posted because it did look a tad dodgy but after looking carefully and thinking through I took it as a safe shot. The Mighty Prawn
Isn't it rather scary in there with those other shots going off? I think if I was the guy at the other end of the lane in the fluoro jacket I might have slightly filled my pants! That said I wouldn't have stood a chance of grassing one of those! EMcC
Dougy, I've just come back from Croatia and the weather was 'quite good' for a change. Still plenty of greenery about but lots of pigs too. I managed to drop three but nothing spectacular or challenging either so no pictures. I am out there again in December so hope to 'upgrade' to some bigger pigs on this occasion. As regards safety, it may seem a bit hairy but as long as everybody stays on the same side of the track, ie forward as opposed to back as in a pheasant shoot, then it is safe to shoot the pigs that pass through the line. That can be seen in Dougy's video. Well done, pity about the second one tho
Dougy
Cheers Ed, I thought you were with our group as I saw an "Eddy" on the list. Was looking forward to the banter. Still, turned out a good wk end with some nice honest chaps. Hope you get yourself a bigy.
