Budice
Had indoor tank, the graduated to outdoor pond, only small, but was so nice to sit there and watch the fish. Just mat sure to get a bloody filtration system and UV light set up as well Also some underwater lighting system would be good, to highlight anny features you build in such as waterfall and/or fountain. The Mighty Prawn
I can't talk ponds without relating my sad tale, I spent months digging an enormous pond in the garden at my first house, spent over a grand on the liner (it was massive) built an oak bridge, stocked it, everything gorgeous, then split up with the GF and she got the house... Pond was so big you could see it from Google Earth but last I looked it was filled in... If I did it again I'd def go raised, or at least 40/60 below/above, gets you closer to the water for watching and much less digging
fern01
The people next door to me are filling their 6' deep pond in with rubble without emptying it or taking the liner out. I wonder what the consequences of that are.

ack-ack
The people next door to me are filling their 6' deep pond in with rubble without emptying it or taking the liner out. I wonder what the consequences of that are. The fish wont dig that. Im an expert on fish, when rubble is piled on them they exhibit signs of stress. I hope this answers your question sufficiently. vampire
Had a large garden pond in our garden when we moved in,the fruit trees had grown and filled the pond with leaves,it was just a sludge pit,so stabbed the liner gave plants away and filled it full of rubble and turfed over it. Hate ponds, stinky things full of midges and fish poo.
bullet1747
If the old bill are reading that,I think they might be wondering what's under there. Four feet of concrete! LolThere was a lot of weight above , on top of the concrete there was solid concrete blocks as well , the pond and exterior walls there wasn't a straight wall they were all curved , above the ground levell it was about 4 1/2 feet high with a two foot by four foot glass window so you could see the fish
