Wild Boar Hunting with Shotgun Slug or Buckshot?

Ask the hunter or the boar, only they know?.the question is was the boar found after it was shot/shot at ? Ie, is it dead, looks like slug and the 1st shot was low?? The second made contact though??( 3rd and 4th looked high just misses??) Just my opinion. The range it was shot at the patern would have been really tight with 9 shot though ???? So who knows?? As long as it ended as tucker and demised as quick as possible, that's all that matters

I would say buck shot , as said you can see the bottom jaw being hit , i think if that was a solid slug it would have done much more damage and the boar would have likely dropped .

I would also agree it would have been better to take it a little later while it was crossing the track, easy to say when you have time to think though!

I have shot boar using a semi auto and ( Brenneke Magnum Crush = 3804 Ft lbs ), boar hit the ground like a sack of **** , they hit harder than most large C/F rounds , the shooter in the clip was NOT using slugs ,

even 1 Oz foster slug though not really the best choice would have still don't a much much better job than that ,

gives me the right hump when I see **** like that :|

There was a clip floating about some years ago where a boar carried on running with steam/vapour coming out of the exit hole like a train. Are there any signs of pellets hitting the ground in the background of this clip, if not, all pellets from 3 shots hit the boar !!!!!!!!!

if he was using a slug , that first shot that connected with the lower jaw , it would have been ripped off , if I had to guess I would say he was using something like SG shot .but I stand by my first comment , that's NO slug

In some countries it only allows the use of 'Buckshot' when shooting on Sundays.

It is not a Countrywide law, it only applies in certain areas of some countries.

Certain areas in Lithuania is one of them, as I found out when asked to leave my rifle in the Hotel and presented with a Merkel shotgun on the Sunday.

I suppose you have to respect their laws but I would not fancy a large boar charging me with just Buckshot to stop it

The use of the word 'Buckshot' covers most of the large shot , BB, SSG, LG etc.

One of the 'Pellets' recovered from one of the pigs shot was as large as 9mm ball.

I can't remember what the cartridge was that I used but having seen some of the pigs shot roll over when hit, and the size of the 'Pellets' recovered, I felt pretty safe.

We are talking 12 Guage of course.
