naddan28
After reading Kirky's post about his dad's dog and snakes reply about cat problems, it reminded me about my girlfriends gran who has cats destroying her garden. Bless her, she first thought I could just pop round with the air rifle and sort the "problem out" but I have explained other than being unethical its also very ILLEGAL! So I was just wondering if you guys have any tips on keeping the cats out the garden. She doesn't want a dog before anyone suggests it Thanks, Dan

pav
32g of number 6 should do it
SecretFollower
An old neighbour used an electronic cat deterrent thingy and it seemed to work. Not sure if they tried the rather cheaper options of crystals you can get. Google cat deterrents and quite a few sites come up. Throwing water on them works a treat too (so I'm told)
Axe
Something like this should do it. http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/cat-repel...2rKw&r=GOOG
al4x
we don't have the problem 2 jack russels tends to cure things, though I am a bit unpopular with one neighbour since they treed her cat
the last engineer
used to nail a few maggies on the fence to deter others, thinking i might try that with the moggies pin em with a few broadheads as they leap from post to post, did i ever tell you i hate cats Martin
Ferret Master
I find 3 ferrets, and one mean **** of a cat helps. Honestly our cat isn't a normal cat. It's scared of mice and birds but certainly sorts out any feline intruders. FM
steve_k
well try some good old fashion moth balls or some **** AOL cd dangling from some strings that is cheap and tends to put them right off!
pin
A friend of mine once explained a method using Vaseline and habanero chilli powder, but you'd have to catch the cat first for this one I am told longitudinally sliced in half 2l clear pop bottles placed around works a treat. dazzyboi
Get a dog... Seriously!! Explain to your girlfriend not only do they make good company but an excellent cat deterrant!! My next door neighbours cats used to come into our garden, and even in the house, they had 3 cats!! then we got a dog that used to go mad at the sight of the cat!! now if im walking to my back gate from the car, the cats will follow me up till the top of my drive, see my gate..then run away in the opposite direction!!! Havnt seen them near my garden since
naddan28
surely cd's and bottles wouldn't do anything, would they not just get used to them? Pav its only a moggie not a puma mate So far money no object, it would be wookie's gadget, now that is impressive!
jonno 357
Lion **** is supposed to work I don't like cats myself but would never harm one just to get rid of one out of the garden. BUT last year I went through a bit of a bad spell with a road kill situation. I ran over 4 cats in the space of 2 months of the road where I live It was the same scenario evertime. Coming home early hours after lamping. The car wheels were a pussy magnet. I things kept jumping out from parked cars So be careful driving home in the early hours you never know whats lurking under a parked up motor Jonno
steve_k
no they tend not to get use to cds as light always reflects of them in a different way and after a while they associate it as a bad thing and stay away! or you could try squirting them with the hose pipe! alwas a fun 1!
