Evening all ,

well as per title . I managed to grab another couple of hours out this afternoon , spotted a few crows hitting some oldish drillings . thought to myself that's got to be worth a squeeze , set up with 6 crow decoys ,

had a great afternoon as always , must say the head cam was really starting to give me the ******* ha-ha need to do some modifications to it a rekon

anyway shot a total of 45

mixed crows , rooks,jackdaws

I perhaps shot more than I ever have last year but have not had a big bag of them as yet , perhaps 30 odd.

last year I had 1948 in total , this year ( without checking ) around 650 ish , but to fare I spend as much time hunting crows as I do pigeons .

How far out are the birds as some look a fair old distance?

The furthest crow decoy on the ground is 40m.

 

Most shot where 30m - 50m with a couple at a guess around 55+

 

Thats why I use the Kicks choke. If I am using size 5s shot It will still hold a tight enough pattern to drop carrions on the spot at some long ranges. I have spent many hours patterning my gun and choke combos. To see just how far things can be pushed but still remain reliable. You can see how tight is when shoot low and it hits the ground.

Which Kicks choke do you use Stevo ? I use the high flyer modified for wildfowling and have been using it for pigeons but took it out as I'm using fibre wads at the minute

Great shooting again,stevo do you not fancy putting a vid up on your preparation ,for an example setting you decoys out,building/location of your hide,the gun/choke/cartridge combo you've chosen to use on that particular day.I think with your knowledge and experience it would help loads of PW members.

I might start adding a little more info. but to be honest I don't want people thinking I'm trying to teach them to such eggs. I'm no will garfit that's for sure.and Im really not very technical . I'm old school. With an old school approach. But I spose if people did want to see a bit more I could have a go. If anything it would funny.
