ozalid
We know that David Cameron is a great shooting man and will protect the rights of shooters in this Country. I have just heard from her own lips on the Andrew Marr show, Shadow Home Secretary Evette Cooper, say the a Labour Government will "remove the subsidy on gun licenses". You have been warned! Paul T
This has been on here more times than the fox shooting rabbits photo It's actually down in black and white in their manifesto (page 51 if you're interested), so why are you surprised she mentioned it? http://www.labour.org.uk/page/-/BritainCanBeBetter-TheLabourPartyManifesto2015.pdf
Dekers
It is a BS comment anyway, the Government is not giving us anything or subsidising us anything. Successive Governments have decided a fee must be paid by all law abiding members of the public for owning a gun, they set the figure. The fact that this figure does not cover the cost (largely due to their inefficiencies...lets not get into this debate again) is neither here nor there and in no way can it be considered a subsidy! We haven't asked to be licenced, they are not giving us anything, simply taking.

fortune
There is no point in wasting time reading any manifesto because they use it in the toilet and just do as they please after they get elected anyway. >> " there are no plans to raise > Tax > vat > and we wont cut blah blah blah. Snouts and troughs come to mind.

jpigeon3
They can subsidize it from all the money they rob from our pensions, as they are proposing to do.

norfolk dumpling
This is a bit of an old chestnut now having been aired many many times but for anyone who did not pick up on my views previously they are: 1) we are the most law-abiding sector of the community - an ex-Norfolk copper pulled together stats to show our incidence of all offences, motoring included was significantly lower than the rest of the population 2) why do we not get a licence for life, as we do a car licence - any who cause problems can have it revoked as car licences are suspended? The rationale here is that shooting is a very very safe (I know this from my old job - shooting is the safest pastime, fishing was the most dangerous I'll explain if required) whereas motoring kills and maims thousands annually and the penalties are often minimal. 3) when any atrocity occurs (Bird/Stonehaven, Hamilton/Dunblane, Ryan/Hungerford) we suffer with further restrictions but it was the fault of senior police officers these idiots had guns/licence with the FEOs and coppers on the beat being overruled. 4) we are, after all, lovely people who do a huge amount for charity and conservation. All in all we should actually be subsidised not vilified! But nobody is listening or maybe we are not singing from the same song sheet. phaedra1106
Now stop that, you're being perfectly sensible and making a rational suggestion! You know it doesn't work like that in the real world
