Next year my BMW is paid for and the wife will have it as her car.

My little connect van will be moved on so i need something a bit more suited to fishing and shooting.

Ive been thinking about a pickup truck but ive always wanted a defender. Driven plenty during my army career mainly wolfs so i know there not exactly comfortable.

Ill have around 7 grand to spend, i keep hearing how unreliable defenders are and rust etc

Are they really that bad?

Prices are only going to stay were they are or go up as they stop making them.

They first come out about T reg anything before that will have been a conversion.

The only rust problems you'll have are with the chassis & bulkhead the rest is alloy.

They are very easy to fix when something goes wrong.

I keep thinking about sell mine but love the drive/feel, jap stuff is more reliable but has no character.

What other car can you buy & not lose loads of money on.

My last car was a nissan x-trail and had always wanted a defender since I was about 18 years old.

well I jumped shippped and got a defender only a L reg one but I love it.

Only an L reg, you've got a few years to keep up with my old G reg & still worth more now than I paid for it 8 years ago.

It don't matter what year it is, it's still better than any jap c**p. Sorry I'll reword that "better than any dull, boring jap 4x4"

Took my 1986 ex military 90 (nearly a Disco) from where I live - Near Lowestoft - across to the PW Catton Park Rifle Shoot near Derby for the weekend. Now that's a long stretch at 60 mph. The weekend shooting and camping was fantastic but the drive up and back was excellent too. Part of the enjoyment of the event.

Man up and get a Landy. (On my fifth and most modern).
