yickdaz
after Thursdays frustration on very decoy shy birds, we went out looking for more stubbles first we looked at the barley stubble we shot 100 on last Saturday nothing doing on that field and only a few in the area so on carried to a rape stubble that we looked at on Thursday and there was a few birds on it that day but no real flightlines in to it so dismissed it for another day, today a lot more birds were on it and birds flighting in, there was a decent wind to keep them moving so watched for a while and set up after 30 mins and only 3 in the bag we realised we were on the wrong side of the field so moved over to the otherside directly in front of us it was 2.30pm by now and had wasted enough time as it was so hastily set up shell decoys and the rotary and was in business from the off it never got hectic but a nice flow of birds to keep us occupied rest of the afternoon shot 54 woodies and 3 ferals picked 50 woodies and 3 ferals Edited August 15, 2015 by yickdaz

ditchman
Nicely done.............the rape stubble has been good to me this year...not big bags but regular small bags of 10-25...........the stubble has had mustard seed broardcast on top and harrowed in ...for a "soil improver" will be ploughed in before the hard frosts.............i have been told "keep an eye on it "..........this will be a first for me ...so lets see what happens !! whats happening to your rape stubble next ?
