Underdog
The wheat harvest this week has been eagerly awaited by one keeper so I can get on the fox's. I got my good friend and knife maker to call over with his 250 last night however the poor feller had forgotten his mag and bolt We decided to continue but with the baby mag, WMR. We lamped four and got three. We had some fun on a 100acre field still being harvested with one fox. A clever fox as it would let us sneak close but as soon as it got a silhouette of the jimney from the lights of the tractors and combines it would slip away. This went on for an hour or so. Never did get that one.....yet! We got a vixen with cataracts! It turned wet and we saw no more so three out of four aint to shabby, about 70yds, 50yds and a 40yd. We did not find one last night so I returned this morning and found it, I don't know how we missed it last night but it was raining bad! It was also hissing it down this morning and me, trusting the forecast lightly dressed got a royal soaking So after being whittled down from the 22-250 of my friends to the WMR I was quite proud It was interesting watching my friend shoot it, no scope fiddling or fuss at all, just up and shoot job done. Commented on the trigger being "unnoticeable", there was some creep last time he used it, I had removed it since his last try. Here is a snap of me finding miss missing! U. winnie&bezza
A lovely feeling when you find one the next day. Nothing worse than being sure you hit one and not finding it the next day.

WelshMike
Well done mate, a good result. If the .17 hmr is a mouse gun would your WMR be a rat gun? I will give you brownie points for at least trying to use a sensible calibre with the .22-250.
Underdog
Yes a rat gun. You know what, I would never have a 250 unless it had something in the order 1:9 twist, use heavy bullets going no more than 3500. In fact I have done much better with around or under3000fps in a wide range of cartridges than anything around 4000!
WelshMike
To be fair to you mate it doesnt seem to make any difference what you use..the end result is always the same...dead foxes.
Scully
Well done UD. Your point about just get on and shoot it rather than fiddling with the scope is well observed. I had a friend who always insisted on fiddling with my scopes before firing the gun, claiming it should be zeroed in and set up for him otherwise he wouldn't be able to shoot it accurately. I could never persuade him otherwise for some reason. I could understand it if it was his personal dedicated special op's sniper rifle, but it was my 22rf. It got to the stage where I simply told him he needed his own rifle.
