6.5x55SE
Yesterday evening having taken my two lab's for a run with my gun to try out some 32gms 5 shot steel whilst waiting behind a bail for Duck on a stubble field I first heard what I thought was Greylag then saw 7 just out of range but barely 20 yrd high. So tonight again taking the lab's for a run armed with my gun I had just walked into a Beet field when the young Lab flushed a cock pheasant the 32gms of steel 5 done the job I noted 5 Duck drop into a drain as my Lab retrieved the pheasant. Out the Beet walk to the Drain flush the Mallard 2 shot's 2 Drake Mallard. Halfway back to my vehicle surely not Yep 7 Greylag come from the direction they went last night and drop onto a stubble field . Well in all my life I have never seen Geese of any species around the area. I drive to where I had them close to me last night parked up and waited and waited looking at my watch 18.50pm I heard a Chunter then saw the 7 Greylag feet high coming straight at me. I took the first 2 in front like big driven Grouse and managed to drop the 3rd just in front to my left as both lab's returned carrying a Goose I picked the third. Home by 7pm with a Cock Pheasant 2 Mallard and 3 Greylag think I'm going to chance my arm on the Foreshore in the morning !!!!!

marsh man
It don't get much better than that for stroll out with the dogs , odd days do come out of the blue like that and that's why we love what we do , We accept blank days and when there is something in the bag life is that much better . If you went this morning hope you didn't get to wet , I did and I only took the dogs for a run .
