turbo33
I popped into a gun shop yesterday to look at the boys toys!! From my previous threads on the quest for a 223, I mentioned I had picked up pretty much everything, and felt the Tikka t3 lite was the favourite. Well, in the rack today was a Howa 1500 sporter, synthetic stock. Knowing it was very much at the budget end, I expected it to be a pile.............!!!!! I picked it out and it shouldered like a dream! The balance was perfect and the stock fitted as good as a custom job!! The bolt seemed to be as well machined as any other in the group, the blueing and finish was faultless, barrel clearly free floating. And the price...........£460!! Online research throws up virtually no negative points................So what's the pw opinion on the Howa?

walt1980
Side by side to a T3 you can see the differences, trigger, smoothness of the safety catch, it's just slightly more basic. I wouldn't say much worse, for the price they are brilliant! Only sold mine as it hardly ever got used!!
walshie
I've got one in 308 and my son has one in 223. Can't fault them.
Les*1066
What's wrong with a Howa 1500? Absolutely nothing - they are very good guns for the price.

Beagle boy
I've got a howa 1500 in. 22-250 with the olive green over moulded stock. Only thing I don't like is the weight but it's is heavy barrel. For me it's not a problem as I only ever use it from a high seat or a blind where the weight really helps I think. The muntys and local foxes arnt a fan though Cheers rob
foxshooter69
Nothing at all, had a .243 and a .308 and when my variation comes through I'll be looking for a .30-

Vince Green
good tool nowt fancy does the job in the field don't know about range target users they may sumthing diferent The heavy barrelled .223 is popular on the range and well thought of but the twist wasn't good for the heavy target bullets if you want to shoot the longer ranges. I understand they are doing something about that
