6.5x55SE
Following my Grandsons fantastic first season shooting a 12ga he had set a Ambitious target this season to shoot a Pink under the Moon and a Whitefront . This season so far he had repeated last season success and shot Canada Greylag and Pink's. With his 15th Birthday on the 20th November all I've heard is when is the Moon what a Birthday present it would be to shoot his first Moon Pink around his birthday. Checking the weather tides etc I saw do to him going to school Friday 27th November could be worth a look. Arriving home from School I got clouds good are we going !!!!!! I done my best to try and explain IF my Weather app was be true 11pm ish till 1am ish should be okay then clear Sky so not good. Armed with Guns cartridges both Lab's Flasks and nibbles for Conor we left in horrendous rain and very strong wind the hour journey the weather got worse and I done my best by telling Conor of the many past Moon flight's of the past where it had come good. Finally having arrived at our destination with Rain lashing down the wind rocking my Truck Conor said you're Apps WRONG again I tried to pick Conor's spirit's up. With my window open I thought nope Don't say anything when Conor shouted Pink's I heard Pink's then look quick look Pink's sure enough a small family party went through followed by another then another. With the Rain still falling we got geared up . Both Lab's seemed to be as excited as Conor me with my experience knew it was game on. With the Rain now having stopped but the wind increasing we finally made our chosen spot Geese was pouring over but on a very wide front do to the Wind some to high others knee height at last a Skein came perfect but I'm disappointed to say Conor missed several very good Chance's and sadly I knew the reasons excitement lack of experience and just pointing at what seemed Big Slow Birds. As the cloud cleared the flight showing I really felt for Conor as he said Grandad that was my best flight ever I had my Chance's. Unloading and sleeving our Guns we slowly made the long walk back to my Truck when approximately half way there Conor heard Pink's coming but this time they had a strong wind up the Butt heading to the roost spotting them a good 40yrd up I told quickly load your gun seeing they would cross to our left for myself they was on for Conor !!!!!! Telling Conor up through head " nut em " Bang a Pink folds Bang a Pink Folds the Biggest yeeee haaaaa get in there I've done it and to cap it BOTH my young Lab and other retrieved Conor's first and second Moon Pink's he also came mighty close to another Ambition as Whitefront Geese only just missed us out. Even now his grin is a joy to see.

marsh man
Lovely ole job Conor , there cant be to many 15 year olds who have shot a pair of geese under the moon , I know I didn't and I bet there are a lot of fowlers on here who have never done it in there time shooting let alone doing it at 15 year old , a fine achievement to you and your teacher . 6.5x55SE
Lovely ole job Conor , there cant be to many 15 year olds who have shot a pair of geese under the moon , I know I didn't and I bet there are a lot of fowlers on here who have never done it in there time shooting let alone doing it at 15 year old , a fine achievement to you and your teacher . Thanks John . I started on the Goose chase at 11 years old shot my first Pink at 17 and first Pink under the Moon at 20. Conor shot his First and Second Pink two days after his ninth Birthday using a Single barrel 2.5 chambered .410 and Bismuth cartridges. The two Pink's he shot under the Moon Conor used a 3" Escort 12ga 1/4 choke Gamebore 3" 36gms Steel 3 shot apart from putting the Shot up front in the right place I also believe Conor's lack of understanding of Chokes and Cartridges payload help's as he just load's a Goose cartridge and shoot's if that makes sense. Once again thanks to all the other kind comments
