poontang
As usual the weather last weekend was pretty rubbish so a planned trip to photograph a pair of local Marsh Harriers had to be put on hold for a couple of days. However, having recently bought a new camera I was pretty keen on giving it a bit of a run out. A quick trip up the A12 to a local BoP sanctuary and as I entered the centre the weather grew worse, and I was greeted by a freezing cold easterly wind and driving rain. Good start!! I've never really been a great fan of shooting captive birds but it was quite an experience to be up close and personal with some of our native (and a few more exotic) raptors. Most of the birds were in large aviary's with wire mesh frontages, which combined with the appalling weather made photography a bit of a struggle. I enjoyed it though, and managed to take some 600 shots before my fingers became so cold I couldn't operate the camera!! Next time I'll remember my hat and gloves! A few shots of the day below.
