Timing Belt.

Yup. If it breaks then, with the cost of getting a recon engine and it fitted the car will pretty much be a write-off.

Do check with a reputable garage if any other work is recommended at the same time (waterpump, pulley tensioners, rollers), as it's a lot quicker (and thus cheaper) to do those jobs at the same time, and if the waterpump goes at a later point then it's a wrecked engine too.

The belt is normally changed on mileage and age. The belts get less supple as they get older. If the age is okay, then you can wait until 72k miles to change.

Some might say it will last way past 72k, but if it breaks - expensive.

I don't know about hondas but 2005 means its over ten years old I would have thought it was due on age alone.

The price of having your belt and rollers replaced is minimal compared to the cost of repair if it snaps. The years and mileage limit placed on new belts are only really guide lines based on laboratory conditions, just like sell by dates on food. Its the gamble you take should you wish to play

If I was you instead of waiting I would be changing the belts, tensioners, water pump as it saves you a lot of time but that's me.i would rather get it all done then it's piece of mind and then you have no worries and don't cut corners as it will cost you in the long run.atb
