oowee
Its the same with old cars. I got into a Hilman imp recently which was my first car. The smell was just the same for a moment I was 18 again. No fishy memories for me

Scully
There is a classic vehicle rally local to me each easter bank holiday weekend. The smell of the upholstery on the buses takes me instantly back to when I was about 7 or 8 and prone to travel sickness. Another for me was while visiting Beamish museum and the cottage gardens. They all reminded me so much of my Grandmas railway house with the pulled rugs and cinder paths, but what really moved me was the smell of the creosote on the garden margins; took me straight back to my 1960's childhood like nothing I've ever experienced, so much so I could feel my eyes filling up. I always add a little to both the bike's petrol tank and the lawnmower's tank. It makes mowing the lawn a pleasure

Never did get one Late DBD 34 with RRT2 box (but why would you need a featherbed frame, the BSA frame was competent enough to handle the power)
Royboy
I used to have a old Honda c90 for the field when I was a lad, my dad told me to put a few drops of caster oil in the fuel tank to make it smell like a old racing bike. He was right ! The smell was beautiful
rodp
Late DBD 34 with RRT2 box (but why would you need a featherbed frame, the BSA frame was competent enough to handle the power) Just seemed everyone wanted the featherbed, I never did get one and wouldn't consider one now, too long off a bike.
