njc110381
Hi guys. I'm a bit stuck for ideas with this so thought I'd come to you for advice! A few weeks ago I lent my HW80 to a mate so he could shoot some rats at work. To cut a long story short, it's come back with a dented scope and a cracked stock. Now it wasn't mint in the first place, but now it's properly ruined. Is there any way to get glue into the crack to fix it? All credit to him he's a good mate and by the time it got to me he'd been on the phone to the local gun shop and had arranged to buy me a new one until I stopped him! He wants to cover any costs I get but he's not rich. As it wasn't that tidy to begin with a structurally sound repair would be more than good enough. I'm happy to have a go at fixing it myself but I'm not sure where to start, or even what glue to use?! So, is this a DIY job or do I need to scrap it and buy a new one? I've found a replacement for £55 - not the end of the world.

figgy
Model shops sell a thin glue especially made to seep into cracks in wood. Can you open the crack up to get the glue in?
saddler
Got a few airgun scopes for sale that have attracted zero interest. Happy to donate one free to get your HW80 back in fettle.... As to the stock repair get the crack fully broken & then glued & pinned. Mate did one of mine this way....but get extra advice & check other web sources (YouTube, etc.) for more ideas/tips.... njc110381
Thanks for your replies chaps. I think I could open it up enough to get something very thin in there. Completely breaking it could be a challenge because it takes most of my strength just to open the crack. It's far from being about to snap but I'm worried about moisture getting in or the crack growing with time. Saddler, that's really kind of you fella. I'll drop you a PM to have a chat about it. guzzicat
Try "Chairfix" from Britwax, (From the Bay) it,comes with a hypodermic style pump & various needles, they allow supplied adhesive to acces smallest cracks, glue expands as it hardens, good kit. greenergp
I had the same thing happen to a stock of mine and i fixed it with boat building epoxy (west system) you mix the epoxy and add some high strength filler and syringe it into the cracks and then i taped the stock up and left it over night. That was over 10 years ago and the gun is still fine.
steve_b_wales
Try a glue called Cascamite. When mixed, you can pour it into the crack in the wood, and it will absorb into the fibres. Very strong once set.

hyflier
I going to guess the crack is through the pistol grip? I've just done a lightning stock, I opened the crack as much as possible, using cascamite glue I got what I could into the crack, then drilled down into the pistol grip and put a quality wood screw in. It's not an invisible repair but I bet it won't come apart Edited April 23, 2016 by hyflier
kent
Cracks in the hand or if you like pistol grip need reinforcing as well as glue. Frankly it's a case of proper repair or new or second hand stock Cs stocks of Sheffield do some nice ones for not a lot of cash if you felt like putting a few quid in yourself
