Cookie69
Is there a standard letter to the authorities to notify them of change of ownership / sale of shotgun? Thanks
Glenlivet
Usually downloadable from your local force's website.
saddler
Ignore the unofficial paperwork/forms = another "excuse" that could be used as "evidence" for fees increase demands - plus the local forms have no validity in law The ONLY method of notification that I have used that was both cost free, 100% reliable AND provided a confirmed receipt of notification was E-MAIL Edited April 29, 2016 by saddler

For example here is the bilingual form from my force, NWP : http://www.north-wales.police.uk/media/250863/64533-Notice-of-Transfer-Bilingual.pdf Your own area will probably have a form detailing what is needed. buze
Well the signed for letter has the advantage you can PROVE it was sent/received.. While it's easy to claim email was never received...
saddler
All my e-mails to the firearms administration office receive an instant acknowledgement reply e-mail.
saddler
Not available in Cheshire, unless I'm missing something. Have a look on the main Cheshire Police website. Or I can ask my mate as he's a certificate holder in Cheshire as he'll know. I'm sure he recently sent them one enquiring about an EFP
Glenlivet
I've looked previously, the instructions for informing them of a transfer is to print and send their form. Not a problem although I've never received an acknowledgment.
Scully
I just write it on paper and send it in if it's between me and a private seller. If it's from an RFD they usually print a letter to send in.
Glenlivet
There's an article on this in the latest BASC magazine which came today. Apparently they list on their website all the firearms email addresses which can be used to notify of sales or purchases.

walshie
The form you're thinking of is the F11. I don't use it myself, but it's handy to refer to so I know I've included all the details required when I email them. 974-498-form_f11_transfer_disposal_weapon.pdf

buze
Email is the way forward, put a delivery and read reciept on it and thats sorted. 'delivery and read receipt' on email doesn't exists. You might thing it does, but I promise you you'll never get any of these if you were to email me, or anyone not using outlook and windows. You cannot guarantee email delivery, let alone read receipt. saddler
Police Scotland e-mail server gives a specific auto-reply to any & all e-mails sent to them. Basically "If this is to notify us of sale/purchase.....this is your proof that notification has been received by us. If about any other firearms licensing matter....we'll contact you shortly" Never had any of that when I sent in "in-house approved forms" by recorded mail... That must be new I dont rem that a couple of months ago the person mailed back to say thats your record updated. Maybe taking too much of their time replying to folk??
