More staying power than me Foxhunter. Well done :good:

Got to the flat farm fields with my, on loan, mobile high seat, only to find that the edge of the field dropped off 2m before the tree line making it pointless. I sat out for a couple of hours with the girly rifle. So bored with zilch to shoot at that i started taking photographs of Glasto Tor and reporting the antics of a black rabbit.

Tonight will be different (I hope).

Good luck mate :good: I don't usually sit it out in the rain but I hadn't been out for weeks so had cabin fever

I went out a bit earlier last night only for it to start raining , I sat it out for 3 hours before it relented a bit. I set up in my intended cut hay field , put out the caller and within 3 minutes had this dog cub flying in to the pups call ........centre bib shot 100 yds

Kept calling for another half an hour but nothing else showed before trying some more fields , spotted 1 but it never hung about

Good on You, i went out with shotgun before and saw that same bloody fox in the same field, would have had it if I had anything bigger than 6's, saying that it's an old single barrel Webley and Scott so wouldn't want to put anything bigger through it  back out in a couple of hours though

Just back from scouting a 100 acres of cut barley over 5 fields. Nothing, not a hare not a rabbit and certainly no foxes. Just a few random roe that we don't have perm to take :unhappy:

Looked at bails in the barn where we had two cubs last week and which are clearly in use but nothing doing either. Tried the dog to flush but nothing.

Spotted one at the edge of a maize field but despite calling, stalking and a 10m foray into the open no shot was presented.

A very disappointing night but still great to be out, hoping for that shot, that flash of eye shine. If every night was a winner it would not be sport. A nice night but hoping the next will be better

we have a very busy month ahead now the combines are due in the next week so. should get out on the foxes then and pigeons if grant does not shoot them all first. most of the rabbits we had to clear on a new permission with paddocks are in check. but most important is the rut should be starting soon. with a regular game dealer taking ours should be a busy month. have just baited a farm round the corner from me the last 2 nights so hopefully should get a few with the nightvision this week over the bait area.

I am waiting for him to defend himself. To be fair it is realtree and not gucci and it does not have sequins. But if you know him I will need a full explanation before I come to my own conclusion :-)

well done mate. will try and get out on the foxes next weekend. been to busy with feathers and antlers of recent not that i have had any luck with the buttolo the last 2 trips.still a bit early and the rain and drop in temp wont help.

watched a fox the other night for about 20 mins with the night vision but would not quite present a safe shot in front of a heap on the bank despite playing every song in the foxpro book. vole squeek brought it in but lost interest when close put it down to too much food as we shot the barley field days before with alot of pigeons left in standing crop. the heap had some pigeons on untouched which surprised me

Time to pay my subs for fox-club  As usual the guns have been away since late Spring but with both rivers that I fish out of commission last night because of levels I thought I'd stretch my legs for a couple of hours after Charlie. Just popped up to a local permission ten minutes up the road. Grass was a bit long where I usually sat and ran the caller, but reckoned I'd be able to pick a fox out with the thermal (just about!). Ran the caller for about half an hour with no luck so flicked it over to distressed fox cub call and a fox came bounding over the grass to the left. Lost sight of him as he made his way towards the caller so quickly got it on mute and gave him a couple squeaks with the hand and he pops his head up above the grass about 100 yards away looking straight at me. One through the headlamps and down he went. Didn't see anything else, and was surprised that my first fox of the new season was an older dog as opposed to this year's cub. Might have the odd foray again during the summer hols if the rivers are out of action again but won't be picking the baton up seriously until end of August.

Had a wander last night to a farm just to see if the grass was cut , I was in luck as there was 1 field cut next to a small copse. I set out the caller and lay in the middle of the field , cub call was playing and within 5 minutes out popped a fox which did a circle to get round level with the caller. I watched it come up the hedgeline and when it stopped at around 100 yds I delivered the bad news ....A vixen. As I picked the fox my phone was ringing , it was the keeper saying he had seen a fox feeding on a sheep next to the pheasant pen and can I have a look , I said I would call in on my way home ...

On arrival at the Shoot , I placed the caller out , walked back and played the cub call again , 1st shine of my torch revealed a fox behind the caller , that was quick , checking the remote only 1 minute in to the call. I quickly dropped to the floor and bagged another vixen

Love those quick calls
