oldypigeonpopper
hello, well it is that time of year when my motor insurance is due for renewal, said paper work arrived in post and lo and behold quite a rise in the 2016/17 premium so as i have never claimed got on the phone to see if i could get a better deal rather than go on one of those check it web sites ( if you dont ask you dont get), i will point out only do about 5,000 miles per year sometimes much less, anyway after a short pause mr hastings direct gave a £38 deduction so that was a result, well sort of
Cranfield
I punt all of our Insurances around when they come up for renewal, I have never yet paid the renewal premium requested and I frequently end up with another Insurance Company, paying less premium that I paid the previous year. Enough people automatically pay the renewal premium proposed without querying it, so it makes it worthwhile for the Insurers to quote those higher numbers. Stonepark
Mine went up about £75 for 25k miles a year after phoning them up rather than the £200 more they had wanted initially. Comparable quotes were within a few quid, so no point in moving.

Then got a call off original broker (Bennetts) asking what could they do to keep my business.............. errr !

BrowningB525
It always pays to get a few quotes. So many insurers try it on at renewal time
Lord O War
If it's less than £10 I stay put but otherwise I move, but do remember to compare like for like. My Mondeo is now getting to the stage where the premiums are worth more than the car

So many insurers try it on at renewal time plus 1 but this time i was happy to continue with hastings direct, will see what happens next year but at my age you do not look to far ahead
