Crikey that takes me back...learnt to ride a motorcycle on my late uncles 1950 D1... it was immaculate, he treated it like a mistress... My Aunt used to joke he would take it to bed with him if he could get it up the stairs. So I suspect you are equally proud of your machine! He had quite a collection of old bikes. a Square four, a S6 & S7, a single pot 200 cc James and best of all a 1935 Superior ( the bike T E Lawrence rode). An American collector bought the lot for 20 K in 1977. Probably a good price at the time. Hope you and your fellow enthusiasts have a great weekend

crosswaters
Just back from the I.O.M for the classic sailed into Peel and used that harbour as a base to travel round the island. Spent two week there watching the practice then the races on the last week. Some of the bikers that travelled over were riding some fantastic old british bikes but also lot of other classics from around the world I must admit I enjoyed more walking around looking at the old bikes than watching the races. great weather, good food and tasted some really nice local ales also ,this trip was my best this year as I travel over for the TT and the southern 100. guzzicat
I have done this yearly since 1997,With various 30 +year old trials bikes,Inc. Dot Greeves, metisse, Ossa Etc. last years entry was an AJS trials special, a 1934 250 engine,Mag conversion, ,1954 gearbox & a 1956 frame, before I reached the first off road section it started losing power, I limped back to start & traillered it home, it was only a tappet had slackened off.My favourite ride of them all was a Jawa/Cz 175 trail, with that lovely art deco exhaust, exiting over the back wheel spindle, care was needed on climbs as if your foot touched the gear pedal it would disengage the clutch!, not advised. bruno22rf
AJS 250 CSR for me although I started on rice burners. Now have a 996 a Gixxer6 and an 1100 Virago in my shed all gathering dust - bought the 996 on a whim but cannot safely reach the floor so I've ridden her twice in 2 years . Feltwad
Anybody remember the Ariel Colt bike and for those who had a sidecar the Ariel square four, another good sidecare bike was the prop driven Sunbeam. Feltwad
