figgy
Looking at the cartridge speed tests done by johnnyoftheboy they should perform and do what you need. I personally didnt like them when i tried some but that was a few years ago now, manufacturers have caught up these days.
Whytie2697
Thanks for reply I have been using lyavale hunting steel same size and getting on pretty well the last couple seasons but that shop shut and this is what my local shop had in stock
anser2
Any steel cartridge is going to be better than Lyadale! A few years ago someone on the forum did speed tests and found them very slow to say the least. The last lot I had were unable to kill pigeons cleanly at 35 yards! I have used Hull Solway 3 inch and they were ok , but not as good as Gamebore mammoths. RC 2 3\4 32 gr are very good too. Whytie2697
OK thanks I have been getting clean kills with the lyavale so hopefully the hull will be even better then
motty
When I get a chrono I will have to test the Lyalvale steel. I bet they're not that slow.
m greeny
I bought some lyvale steel coz they were cheap and give them a go and had no trouble with them at normal ranges on duck and also had a Canada one night at about 35 yards but tgey are a very dirty shell

motty
I find it hard to believe that a major cartridge manufacturer would make such substandard ammunition. I would rather chrono them myself, rather than listen to hearsay.

I've shot so many Geese with them if I had a £ for everyone I'd be Very rich BUT i got slated beyond believe for stating I regularly " Nutted Geese " 45-50yd with them. It's a long story I'm sure a few can remember it being on another forum. Slow as they was it still " Nutted Geese"
joknob
I was up at kev,s ranch near annan testing some home load tens,a few years back when he told me,they might have improved by now !!

Highlandladdie
I have used the Hull steel to good effect. Seemed to do the job nicely. Edited November 13, 2016 by Highlandladdie
Fal
Try the Eley Lighting boys, I find them excellent! I user the No 3s in 32g or 36g. Best steel load I have found, but, they are becoming pricey now!
kennett
I fired 1 gamebore mammoth magnum 36g 3 at a wigeon on Saturday night, and killed it cleanly at 45-50yds so I'm happy with them. And my local gun shop has a cupboard full so no supply worries
