super sharp shooter
I was involved in an accident yesterday where a guy smashed into the back of my truck while i was in a traffic jam. I have spoken to my insurance company who are dealing with the claim. This morning the other guys insurance company phoned me up saying that they are accepting liability for the accident and now would like to deal with the claim and i should not go though my own insurance company. They were saying that i might not get what I'm owed and could end up paying for things that i can't claim back (scare tactics ). Since when did the other persons insurance company phone up to deal with the claim? Edited January 26, 2017 by super sharp shooter
ph5172
I have had it before when a company car driver reversed into me. He admitted liability and his insurance company contacted me an hour or so later, - we did swap details but they contacted me directly on my mobile, sorted out a replacement car and arranged for an assessor to come and view the damage. Asked if i had any injuries - No I was all repaired and back on the road in about a week no issues at all

Having told them to get off the phone b4 i said something naughty ,rang Admiral who must have torn them a second bottom emptying device never heard from them again. Its the latest scam from insurescum u let them deal with it at your own peril as they want to keep their payout to a minimum atb
chady
It's probably cheaper for them to do this than having to pay out another insurance company. But might try and con or persuade you out of things and do a cheap job
Vince Green
Are you sure it was the insurance company and not a claims management company trying to muscle in ? Deal only with your own insurer and DON'T SIGN ANYTHING but most of all don't hand your vehicle over to them and don't accept a vehicle from them
al4x
The reason for trying to deal direct is many insurers will point you at a claims management company as it is an obvious non fault claim. If you go that route and take their loan vehicle etc etc and they charge too much on the hire it can get refused by the other parties insurer. Gordon R
A couple of years ago, someone ran into my son's car. The other party was insured through Direct Line. they rang my son directly and said they would repair the car. They are a reputable company - sent a low loader, picked up the car - he was invited to inspect the repair at any stage - which he did - and delivered back home. We were very impressed by the repair standard. He did mention the approach to his own insurance company who were happy enough to sanction the process. The OP just needs to inform his own insurance and verify that he is also dealing with a reputable insurer.

I bet they also levy your policy as you have had an accident, even though it wasn't your fault!!!!
Davyo
Happened when some idiot in an oncoming car turned right in front of me.His insurance company rang me the next day wanting to provide a curtesy car and get mine took in for repair straight away. I wasn't really bothered as it was my old shooting wagon and a new headlight a bit of gaffer tape and the Mel hammer sorted it out. They guy had already told me he would cover the repair cash. When he said that I was concerned he had no insurance but he must have claimed for his own car.I just got the guy to pay for the headlight. On an other issue though,I got shunted up the rear a few year back in my other car. These last few months I've been hounded by some claims company who although I say I have no injury are trying to put words in my mouth.Last week they rang again even though I told them not to.I asked them where they got the information from ? To my shock they got the details from my own insurance company! So what's this stuff all about fraudulent claims when it's the insurance companies themselves that are feeding the sharks
al4x
I have told my insurance company regarding the approach from them and they advised me not to deal with them. On what grounds? With a rear shunt are they pushing the ambulance chasers at you and asking about whiplash?
bruno22rf
Worst thing is, even though it wasn't your fault....your premium will go up next renewal time
