belly47
when I decided yesterday evening to pop out with the rifle for an hour or so my 7 year old son asked if he could come with me, it was the first time he had asked so of course I said yes. now I didn't expect to shoot anything with the lad in tow as trying to get him to sit still for more than a minute or so is nearly impossible. so we walked around a couple of large fields and didn't really see much at all but it was good to hear my lad saying how nice and peaceful it was and that he liked the sounds of the birds singing. with no luck on the first permission we headed off to a small holding where I thought we may get a shot and I managed to get him to sit still long enough to shoot one at a touch over 90 yards with the hmr. our first rabbit together, we were both delighted and when the land owner appeared and took my son away to see the lambs she has had to hand rear it completed a lovely evening. on the way home in the car my boy said "dad, that was awesome, what an adventure" an evening I'll never forget that's for sure Edited April 30, 2017 by belly47

Mr gen
good on both of you its a great feeling, sharing something like that. I still get a buzz now when my 16 year old asks if he can have a walk around with me instead of going out with his mates

ElvisThePelvis
You are so lucky, my boys 9 and 6 and have no interest in shooting at all. They are starting to show an interest in fishing though.. Edited April 30, 2017 by ElvisThePelvis

mel b3
shooting is enjoyable , but shooting with you kids is even better . my lad is 21yrs old now and dips in and out of shooting , he came for a late mooch with me last night , and was up again at 4am to have an early mooch today , it doesnt get much better. Penelope
Excellent! I'll never forget the times dad took me out, sat in a hide waiting for woodies. 40 odd years later I'm still at it and keener than ever. Now I take him out.
