Paul taylor
Hi gents. Going to put in for .22 rimfire and .17hmr soon and was wondering what sort of quantity of ammo is deemed sensible to hold for pest control. Thanks in advance. Paul. 69chris
i only asked for 500 of each as i live near a rfd so getting a top up isnt a problem, others have 2 or 3 times that amount - how much do you think you need ?
oldypigeonpopper
hello, only have a 22 L/R allowed 600 with TVP

Really don't have a clue how many I'd need. I have an RFD only 15mins away so supply should be no issue especially as I wouldn't be going out firing off loads in a session unless zeroing or practicing. How many come in a box? Is it cheaper to buy in larger quantities?
Velocette
Ask for 600,,that way you can still have a few to use but still buy a brick of 500 to replenish your stocks.
Stonepark
500 22rf in a slab, normally you want 1200 on cert to allow for 2 slabs of different ammo plus misc current stock.
kiffy
I've a 22LR and asked for 600, thinking being a pack of 500 is cheaper than buying fifties so when I go below a hundred I can go buy 500... the police or my force at least don't look at bulk buying prices as a reason but my FEO was happy with 600.. its more than enough for me as my gund a hunter not a target gun so other than a few target sessions to get used to the gun when I bought it I generally only use a few

Last price's were £8.50 per 100 .22, and £30.00 per 100 .17. .22, 42 gr Winchester's, and .17, 17gr CCI A17's.

steve_b_wales
Regarding .22LR, I started with 750 to keep, but now have a 1500 allowance. If you ask for 750, you should be okay.

Paul taylor
Thanks for the advice gents. Gives me some numbers to think about. Must admit that's a lot more than I was thinking originally.
Wingman
As has been said it all depends on your reason and purpose. I was granted 1000 22LR when I had my fac for pest control and gallery rifle.
kyska
I'm 500 a piece, can't think I'd ever need to keep more than that.
allthegearandnoidea
I have 500 .308, 500 .223, 500 hmr and 1500 .22lr on my ticket. To max it out though would cost about £1,500!
