alic
Hi,I noticed some dark patches on the receiver of my MK38, which I seem unable to make disappear. Really not sure what the cause is , originally I thought it was just general grime from use. Thanks in advance ( I hope the picture will upload) Edited July 9, 2017 by alic

oldypigeonpopper
hello, try white spirit and a tooth brush
alic
Thanks OPP, this Might be easier solution for me than the petrol
steve_b_wales
Try Solvol by Autosol. This has always worked on my firearms, including Satin Stainless Steel revolvers (many years ago)
ips
Cigarette lighter fluid and a toothbrush (don't use your own toothbrush, use the wife's 😊)
figgy
If that don't work try fine wire wool.
alic
Thanks everyone, I have tried the white spirit as it was the easiest option which didn't quite work. I assume ( probably wrongly) that lighter fuel / petrol are similar in their actions to the WS (maybe of varying strengths ). So I think I'll give the autosol a shot- thanks again
matone
I`d be careful of using anything abrasive on a Miroku action,if you go through the factory finish ,it will look worse ! Seen a few `tarted up` MK38`s that have had the finish completely polished off ,they look garish.....

Saltings
if areas are looking dull it can be the factory lacker has worn away making the metal look dull a gunsmith will strip and re polish and re seal did my browning about ten years back John Wiseman at Cannock sorted it out for me

GingerCat
Personally it's not something to worry about. Just shows the guns been used a bit. I did however use a little bit of metal polish and a soft cloth to the similar of my ou that was filthy. It didn't harm the metal and did clean it. I've never bothered since. figgy
Don't worry about using fine wire wool on the silver actions. I've watched it used on 80k Berettas. Look online.
