Guest topshot_2k
i;d stick to a single gun unless they are matched. Bet i'd shoot better and reload just as quick as swapping and trying to shoot two guns that handle different.
itchy trigger
Beautiful. What did you swap them for? bought an estate car have just acquired another 687EEL, 28" again but this time a multi choke sporter, made in 1989, grouse on the right and mallard on the left on the sideplates, woodcock on the bottom of the action, people remark how nice the engraving is, going to Coniston Cold to have a play on the skeet with it now

Sure it will be stunning wasn't needs must, just wanted something that would eat up the motorway miles, e class estate does the job nicely the EELL will do until the right browning comes along,
matone
If you have time, get to a shooting ground that has a Grouse Butt setup, with your own guns, pay them for an instructor and practice double gunning until you`re confident . Money well spent and it will maximise your enjoyment of an excellent opportunity !!!!! Good luck and enjoy yourself !
itchy trigger
A good friend has invited me on a driven shoot for a couple of days at the end of September. I've shot walked up but never driven and have been asvised that= A loader woul be a good idea ( agree) Some people are double gunning. My usual Gun is a Beretta 30" my spare is a 28". What cartridgse would people reccommend to get back to the original post, as long as the the guns fit the same it should not make a difference a single gun with a stuffer is very nearly as fast, nip up to Bisley at Braidwood near Selkirk and practice with your loader in their grouse butts, well worth the drive. you don't require more than 1/4 and 1/4 and 30gram 6s is all you need(though a mate swears by 5s for shooting them up the ****)

Old farrier
Hi Nice invite you have 😊 First don't get hung up with all the gear Enjoy your day Grouse are easy to kill hard to hit so cartridge 6/7 28/30 grams Lots shot with 20 bores 26 grams of 7 shot Safety take your two sticks for the butts !!!! Gun choice anything your familiar with if you're struggling with the double gunning change over just shoot 1 and stuffer can load it practice both Shot with miss matched Guns and pairs of ss and ou Best thing to do is walk out from your butt 80 yards and turn up a rock or mark a heather clump try to shoot them there they'll be 40 yards before you pull the trigger My grouse Guns are bored no 1 1/4 cylinder. No2 1/4. 3/4 Above all enjoy the day All the best Of

scotslad
! thing that hasn't been mentioned althou i'm sure ur mate will fill u in. Be careful wot ur wearing, by sept time birds will know where the butts are so anything white/bright could divert birds away from ur butt, Probably not as likely in sept but the classic is ur normal white chequered shirts that are the norm on a normal shoot day, hot sunny day all the drab jackets come off and the white shirts are out, most exp grouse folk wear green/purple shirts instead. I can always remember a keeper mate loading for his boss telling him to keep his jacket on on a boiling hot swealtering day, the rest of line had them off and stood out like flankers, the boss had the drive of his life it will depend on the moor, grouse numbers and wot it can hold over winter but sometimes by end of september keepers are desperate to get numbers shot as soon as possible and often no overages, infact sometimes will take good accurate guns to the fullest drives to get numbers down. Some of the better known grouse shots get lots of free invites at that time of year to go round moors getting numbers down. But check 1st icase u get a big bill instead, but htey do take some hitting at that time of year
Fabarm74
A pair off grouse guns are choked diffrently from your normal game guns. Gun 1 first barrel tight ,secone barrel open gun 2 open choke first barrel second barrel tight. Reason being first bird taken well out in front second bird taken close in front then. Second gun used for two behind.
