ips
Currently on a weeks holiday at Barnard castle. Somebody has had a very good day on pigeon (presumably) started to hear shots from an auto just after 6 am and the sport sounded good all morning. Lucky begger 😁
Scully
Why did you choose Barnie? Nothing wrong with the place; good gun shop ( if it hasn't closed down yet) but there's not a lot of much else there.
figgy
High force not far. Some of the country's best grouse moors and Lake District a short drive. Must have gone for the peace and quiet. Edited August 5, 2017 by figgy

Plus not far from Masham for loaders course in a few days. Gunshop has closed 😞 Nice town, nice walks, much quieter than the lakes, not many kids....what's not to like 👍
Feltwad
Nothing wrong with Barnie good country town has a market on a Wednesday which I go too , the museum is good plus High Force . Yes there was plenty of shooting due to the late combining of the barley, with a fare number of pigeon . Feltwad

kernel gadaffi
I'm in the Wear valley, just north from Barney, have a drive over and I'll make you a coffee. Penrith is only half an hour along the A66 and Barnie is a good base to work from, there's plenty of places to visit within an hours drive. Lucky begger Did you know that Barnard Castle in the Victorian Period of 1840s was the largest industrial town in Co Durham and saw 5 gun makers working there at the same time Sadly there is not now a gun shop. scotslad
It might be worth get urself up really early 1 morn and try to catch some blackcock lekking, not the best time of year for it but some really decent numbers in that general area. I'm sure some of the locals could mibee fill u in with lekking sites, I mind the ST's done a photo shoot at 1 right beside the public road (was years ago but I think near a pub in middleton area? meant to be quite a famous lekk) How's the grouse numbers looking down there? I'm down next sat for the 1st day out with the mutts. Can't wait There is some really good numbers of kestral's down there too, hardly ever see them up my way now (too many buzzards), I even know a few spots over that area where u can quite often see HH's

Yes I was one of the black powder shooters , that's when the muzzle loaders were welcome at country fairs sadly that is not so these days they take a lot of trade in have a go from other organisations.
