Penelope
The wife and step kids want to go to Croatia next year, so I'll guess I'll have to tag along. Any pointers, advise, recommendations, regarding resorts, paces of interest, etc please?
Honey Monster
Split and area. Especially Krka national park and waterfalls.
Fatcatsplat
I've been twice and it's flippin' lovely. Great weather, great sea, beautiful country, (mostly) Italian food, great wine (and some OK, but at 70p a litre i'll let that go!!). Dubrovnik is a fabulous city with loads of history and Split is just around the corner and equally good. The islands of Hvar and Brac are just idyllic and a ferry ride away. What you don't get: Sandy Beaches are rare - Mostly rocky, but the sea is bluer than a dead smurf. Brits on the **** - It's mainly ******** free. Hotels and "resorts" are few and far between. Everything is low rise, with a red roof. Especially Krka national park and waterfalls. And Plitvice lakes
Penelope
Sounding better gents, (I don't generally do sun, sea and whatever holidays).
Scully
Porec is wonderful; and Venice is a short hop skip and jump away across the Istrian Peninsula. Highly recommended.

Yes I agree. One of our best ever Holidays. Boat ( Hydrofoil ) I'm going back many years was not running on the day so we went the long way round by coach. dodeer
Go on the coast as inland is boring. More south you go the more expensive it is. Croatia is a bit of a secret in what it can offer and you'd be surprised with the amount of celebrities who go there etc
AVB
Went years ago when it was still Yugoslavia. Even as an impoverished communist country the scenery was stunning. And yes the sea is the deepest shade of blue I have ever seen.
Bumble
We went to Dubrovnik back in May for our honeymoon. It's a beautiful place, and we had a fantastic time. We stayed in the Old Town, which is lovely. Food is fantastic, especially the seafood, and the local wine (Počip) is delightful. The locals couldn't have been friendlier, and service in some of the restaurants is the best I've experienced. We had a day out to Lokrum nature reserve, which was very nice. It wasn't the cheapest place we've been, but we weren't penny-pinching either on food or days out etc. We did find prices outside Dubrovnik to be a bit cheaper than in the city itself, but that's to be expected. We plan on going back and either sailing down the coast & visiting places along the way, or getting a car to tour around (and into Montenegro). oowee
Its a fab place. Used to drive up from Serbia and also sailed down the coast. A gem not far from Pula is the island Brijuni its a short boat trip. It was Tito's holiday island. No cars are allowed and once there you hire a golf cart, bike or segway to get around. Lots of empty coves, roman ruins every where and Chital and Fallow deer its a paradise. They don't like the Serb's and every day our car, with Serbian plates, would get a parking ticket. lord_seagrave
It's bliss. And the lager is proper fighting juice. Ožjuko, as I recall. If you can find Lako Pivo from Slovenia, that is a very nice drop. The livovitz (plum spirit) is pretty delish too. The islands, as FatCat says, are a haven for the senses. The weather is generally good, the seas immaculate and grub treads a line between classic Mediterranean/Greek and mittle-European stodge (look out for the delight of Burek, which is like cold Yorkshire pudding stuffed with feta). I flippin loved it. Have travelled all over the region, and Lady S and I went camping on Hvar a few years back and it was great.
