ElvisThePelvis
Neighbour farmer is cutting fodder beans at this very moment. How long should I expect to leave the beans before taking a look around.. Adjacent wheat is still standing..
Catamong
The birds should be on them even before they're cut, they certainly are around these parts..? They usually hit the stubbles within a day or so of the field being combined, but , as ever the answer to your question of "When's the right time..?", is always "When they're there.." Cat. ElvisThePelvis
Ok, cool, will try to get out tomorrow around same time as wheat stubble shooting.. No signs of birds on beans otherwise since spring drilling!
super sharp shooter
I was told by the farmer they are on it the same day as it's normally the last crop to cut.
motty
I find it isn't wise to trust in what a farmer tells you.

Me matt
hello, just waiting for the beans to be cut here, 150 acres the pigeons dont seem interested on the wheat stubble They've been on wheat stubble down the road in small numbers, but tbh because of the wet cooler weather they have been in biggest numbers in a huge horse sanctuary field next door to the beans.... eating clover I presume, had a few last week woth crops full of the stuff. Me matt
I saw pigeons going into standing beans today. Yes from what ive seen they were feeding on the seeds dropping from grasses and weeds between the beans following the pre havest weed kill. Me matt
Thanks matt will do . Cancel that idea...... waited all year for the harvest, best day imaginable yesterday, finished at 2pm, according to the stable girl they turned up at 4 and ploughed the ******* lot! Total **** today, full of buzzards and kestrels, hardly any pigeon activity.
