ShootingEgg
So I had my freelander serviced recently.. Had the local seat dealership do it as they had time to fit it in. They've always given me great service and this time was no different. After they said they cant turn off the notification on the dash but recommended a local landrover specialist. So I booked it in, no mention of cost when I did. Expecting to pay roughly £20 for ten minutes on the machine, they came out and presented me with an invoice for £82. I was speechless.. Me matt
Got to be a rip off.... I would have refused to pay it.
ShootingEgg
Got to be a rip off.... I would have refused to pay it. I was a bit gob smacked. Made a comment and they said because it had to be plugged into the diagnostics. I wont be returning and I won't be recommending them.. billytheghillie
All modern cars need a diagnostic plug in, as soon as they plug it in its round about £100 before they do any work.

Cosd
Didn't you ask the price before handing your car over?
Seadog1408
Should of taken it to land rover for the service or an independent with diagnostics then there wouldn't be a problem. Also should have asked LR for a price first. Mike

Ask Seat to pay, they did the service and should have reset it.

Mike Mike, I was going to but a week before it was booked in one of the turbo pipes split and they wanted to "recover" it early out of warrenty, charging me for recovery, but were "too" busy to bring the service forward and do the pipe change on the same day. Also even with the additional charge im over £100 better off. Just wasnt expecting the near £100 notification switch off.
Seadog1408
They certainly know how to charge!!

Any garage who works on modern cars should have a scanner to get in to it, only takes 5 mins as well.

So some garages wont pay the licence I guess
