So I had my freelander serviced recently.. Had the local seat dealership do it as they had time to fit it in. They've always given me great service and this time was no different. After they said they cant turn off the notification on the dash but recommended a local landrover specialist.

So I booked it in, no mention of cost when I did. Expecting to pay roughly £20 for ten minutes on the machine, they came out and presented me with an invoice for £82. I was speechless..

Ask Seat to pay, they did the service and should have reset it.

Should of taken it to land rover for the service or an independent with diagnostics then there wouldn't be a problem. Also should have asked LR for a price first.

Mike, I was going to but a week before it was booked in one of the turbo pipes split and they wanted to "recover" it early out of warrenty, charging me for recovery, but were "too" busy to bring the service forward and do the pipe change on the same day. Also even with the additional charge im over £100 better off. Just wasnt expecting the near £100 notification switch off.

If it's on a 'long life service' it has to be done via diagnostics.

Any garage who works on modern cars should have a scanner to get in to it, only takes 5 mins as well.
