Bobba
I will be funding my grandsons boots. There will be plenty of good advice from local supplier but wondered whether any PW member had practical Ten Tor experience? Thanks.
vmaxphil
Can't recommend boots but tell him to take 3 pairs of socks as he will get wet feet
arjimlad
We took my son to Cotswold Outdoors in Broadmead who did a good job fitting him with some Hi-Tec boots. They were the least expensive in the shop at the time (on the basis that C.O. don't see rubbish) and we signed up to their loyalty card when we bought them. This provided a 2-year guarantee and the purchase was logged online. After doing the practice hikes and the 35 mile event itself, and having worn the boots for a 15-mile DofE Bronze expedition, the sole came away from one of the boots. Cotswold were good as gold - I took the boots in & they refunded the cost straightaway. He's not bought any replacement boots yet which would be suitable for such a long hike. Ultrastu
A decent relatively light weight boot with gortex liners . Something from Solomon or berghaus Should do
welshwarrior
I've worn Altbergs for the last 20 years now I've tried most others. I'd avoid goretex it's a pain when wet as doesn't dry as fast. Wear gaiters and two pairs of socks carry spares and foot powder if boots get wet sock changing will help the drying process. Mice!
If you find a pair of Altbergs that fit have a look on eBay there was another thread running on these, you won't get any guarantee but you'll only pay £30-40. I haven't done the walk your looking at but we did Snowdonia and the lake district, good boots your used to and the same for your rucksack, happy days ?? JohnfromUK
I have done quite a lot of walked up grouse; not quite the same thing I know, but I would 100% agree on the gaiters comment above. Good gaiters are (almost) as important as good boots.
Bobba
Many thanks one and all. Gaiters and socks ( been looking at SealSkinz waterproof socks) are added to the list. Moor Man. Thanks for invite. May well pm when requirements clarify. Bob.
Mice!
I would be careful with water proof socks not sure if they will breathe probably better having a couple of pairs so you can change them at the end of day.

Mice!
I meant normal socks so a dry pair at the end of the day, and don't wear the water proof ones? 27 minutes ago, welshwarrior said: This quick way to bad feet imho
