Don't know if this is in the correct topic but here goes.

Followed up an article in this weeks Shooting Times about protests against the shooting of a pigeon in a cathedral. It seems that the loony animal "rights" people have started a group solely dedicated to "protecting" the pigeon.

PIGEON CAMPAIGNS UK

Ph: 0797 448 5263 .

Email: pigeoncampaigns@aol.com

Campaigning for the protection of wild & feral pigeons, in particular against culling

It beggars belief that with all the ills in the world today anyone would devote their time to campaigning on behalf of a pest and nuisance species. Lets hope they don't start taking direct action but I wouldn't bet against it within a few years.

They reckon that, what, a third of pigeons in London are born with deformities because of the environment. Hell, in most cases putting them down is a blessing. Besides, they **** all over the place and that is smelly as hell.

By the way, as a Cambridge****e resident, I formally apologise for these loonies living in my county

You know when you ever see a photo of these "animal rights" lot, they are either crusty blokes or emotionally damaged girls?

Well I think if we all took our time to let them down gently and not muck them about there'd be less anti's about

 unfortunately my principles of Finance seminar last year was just after and next door to the wildlife conservation students  I have never seen so much tie die! I tell you what if you dropped a bomb on kent uni you would probably take out 40% of the animal rights activists!

I came out of one of the bars before and seen 3 hippies in a tree. Looked twice, thrice and then for the fourth time. Unfortunately they still were there and I wasn't seeing things!

Another time, we had the environmental officer candidates campaigning for election via leaflets, asked whether they were recyled, and got "why?" beggars believe!

A good 70% of online antis I come across are depressed 'My Chemical Romance' fans. I had one girl ask how I could cut a creature that was once living apart. My simple reply was to ask how she could slit her wrists, take photos of it and then upload them to Bebo.

The visible, up front, Antis are less of a concern, as you can combat their actions and propaganda.

I would be more alarmed at the insidious "from within" movement, that apparently are lobbying to change the way we carry out pest control.

Being "from within", they have more credibility and can do more damage.

Good advice Henry. Slightly off topic I was at one of my permissions the other day and caught some lads beating the **** out of one of the farm houses used for storage in fruit picking season. I put a flea in their ear and told them to hop it.

What I should have done in hignsight was to let the police know. You never know what stories people will make up, especially, like in my case you have a gun over your shoulder. To be totally honest, I had forgotten about the gun, but looking back I can see that it could have been seen as being very threatning behaviour on my part.

Whenever someone not involved in the shooting I am doing approaches or comes into sight I slip the gun first before making contact. You can't be too careful. We are used to seeing guns, we know when a gun is safe - in the case of a shotgun we might be able to see that from 100yds away. The general public couldn't tell the difference between a broken shotgun and an ak47 - best to make it impossible to get wrong.

Not lecturing, just a good piece of advice for anyone out there.

Agreed, I was going to pop in to sort out an issue I had been having after shooting with someone but then realised me appearing on their drive with a gun (slipped obv) in the car, was just a recipe for potential problems! Although I did consider leaving the gun at home with a independent witness then going round, just to see if they made out I had threatened them. Even that I thought wasn't worth the potenitial hassle, espically as I would like a shotgun and FAC air rifle.

Antis... a really nice bunch of well meaning, intelligent and attractive people, we should give them and encourage them to emigrate to their own country...somewhere like Baffin Island or Rockall or perhaps an empty space like Chernobl

The cathedral in question was Norwich. These idiots give he county a bad name.
